4 day Tanzania Camping Safari

This 4-day Tanzania camping safari starts and ends in Arusha, combining two of Tanzania's top wildlife safari destinations - the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park. This affordable African safari holiday package offers an action packed game-viewing trip ideal for travellers on low budgets with limited time in Tanzania.

Day 1: Arusha to Karatu - Tanzania  (Lunch & Dinner)

This affordable Tanzania camping safari starts off with lunch in Arusha town, located at the foot of Mount Meru in northern Tanzania. After lunch in this scenic town we drive to Karatu town in the northern highlands bordering the Ngorongoro District. In Karatu we have dinner and settle in at camp for our first overnight stay on the Tanzania camping safari.

Day 2: Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater - Tanzania (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

On day two of the camping safari we collect picnic lunches and head for our safari destination of the day, the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater.

We descend to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, some 2000 feet (over 600 meters) for a half-day African safari adventure in this unique wildlife sanctuary. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest volcanic caldera covering around 260 sq km.

We explore the vast bowl of Ngorongoro, said to host Africa's highest density of mammalian predators. This area hosts a staggering population of around 25, 000 big animals, with game including zebra, wildebeest, eland and gazelles to name a few.

On our Ngorongoro safari we explore forests inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the savannah plains where lions roam and the crater's lake area, home to numerous bird species, including flamingos.

After our exciting wildlife safari in Ngorongoro we drive to camp for dinner and spend the night camping in tents near the crater.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Lake Manyara - Tanzania (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

On the third day we enjoy breakfast at the tented safari camp and set off for Lake Manyara, stopping for a picnic lunch en route to our next exciting safari destination in Tanzania.

Upon arrival at the freshwater Lake Manyara we take a game drive into the lush Lake Manyara National Park. The compact Lake Manyara National Park offers diverse game viewing opportunities within its 325 sq km (125 square miles) area. This narrow strip of wilderness is home to hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions and elephants. The watery Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its flamingo population as well as being rich in various other birdlife species.

After our game drive in this beautiful Tanzanian wildlife park we head to our safari campsite in Mto wa Mbu for dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 4: Mto wa Mbu to Arusha - Tanzania (Breakfast & Lunch)

After breakfast on the last day of our camping safari in Tanzania we return to Arusha town for lunch, concluding the African safari experience of a lifetime.
