This unique Chobe & Moremi Botswana Camping Safari offers a genuine African wildlife adventure!
Get up close to the bush and wild animals of Africa camping in private areas of top Botswana game parks. Explore two of Botswana's most diverse and game-rich wildlife parks on game viewing drives in specially designed safari vehicles.
Starting with game viewing in the beautiful Moremi Reserve on the Okavango Delta and continuing to the vast Chobe Park, renowned for its large elephant herds.
The truly wild African bush experience of this hands-on Botswana Camping Safari ends with a relaxing night at a comfortable lodge in Livingstone on the Zambian side of Vic Falls.
This Botswana Camping Safari departs from a pre-arranged meeting point in Maun at 07h30 on day one.
Your guide will meet you in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta, from where you will drive to Moremi Game Reserve, one of Botswana's top game parks.
We spend the first three days of this wildlife safari exploring Moremi Reserve on game drives in search of the impressive array of wild animals and prolific birdlife found in this diverse wilderness area of Botswana. Moremi is considered one of the most beautiful game reserves in Africa covering the eastern part of the Okavango Delta where mopane woodland and acacia forests contrast with watery floodplains and lagoons.
Moremi is home to elephants, especially numerous during the dry season, as well as buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyaena and jackal. A wide variety of antelope species, including the rare red lechwe, are also found in Moremi, along with healthy populations of endangered African Wild Dog.
During our stay in Moremi we embark on game drives in the early mornings at sunrise and again in the late afternoons at sunset. Our early morning game drives are followed by lunch and a rest back at the safari camp. On day three we move to a new campsite to explore a different part of the pristine Moremi Reserve. We camp in private campsites with bush ablutions in designated wilderness areas of the reserve. (B, L, D)
Day 1: Maun to Moremi Game Reserve: 150km, 6h (including Moremi game drive)
On day four we leave Moremi making our way north east to Chobe National Park, boasting one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa.
Botswana's most diverse wilderness area, the vast Chobe Park is best known for its large herds of migratory elephants. Next our journey in search of wildlife takes us across the drier Savuti plains of Chobe. Savuti hosts one of Africa's highest concentrations of wildlife within Chobe and is renowned for its predators, especially lion and hyena. We continue north to the Chobe River meandering along the banks of the river on our game drives as we look out for elephants, hippos and buffalos as well as rich birdlife including the African Fish Eagle. In the Chobe area we will be camping in private designated sites with bush ablutions. The camping areas selected are remote and wild providing a real African bush experience. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Moremi to Savuti: 120km. 5-6h
Day 5: Savuti to Chobe River: 170km, 5h
We embark on a morning game drive in the Chobe area before taking a ferry across the Zambezi River into Zambia. Then we drive to Livingstone on the Zambian side of the famous Victoria Falls (visa required), where we stay overnight at a comfortable lodge.
You have free time in the afternoon to visit the impressive Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and go curio shopping. On the last night of this Botswana Camping Safari dinner will be at your own expense at the lodge in Livingstone. Optional Activities in Livingstone include White Water Rafting down the Zambezi Gorge, Canoeing on the upper Zambezi, Elephant Rides and Helicopter Flights over Victoria Falls. (Day 7 – B, L & Day 8 - B)
The truly wild African bush experience of the Chobe & Moremi Botswana Camping Safari officially ends after breakfast on day eight.
Day 7: Chobe River to Livingstone: 100km, 2-3h
The Chobe & Moremi Botswana Camping Safari starts at 07h30 on Day One therefore it is a requirement that you stay overnight in Maun the night before the tour departs and purchase drinks for your safari the day before the safari starts. We recommend an extra day or two after the safari in Livingstone at Victoria Falls to participate in some of the amazing adventure activities available. Post-tour accommodation, activities and transfers to Livingstone airport or lodges, Victoria Falls airport or lodges or Kasane in Botswana, can be arranged at an additional cost

The vehicles used on this Botswana Safari are custom-built game viewing vehicles, designed for safari trips in the African bush. Each vehicle carries up to 12 passengers, ensuring excellent visibility on game viewing drives, as well as great movability in the wilderness. Throughout the safari we use a specially designed trailer unit containing a mobile kitchen and space for all of the camping equipment and luggage.
On this semi-participation safari we will be camping at bush campsites in 2.1m x 2.1m x 1.75m bow tents that are easy to set up (clients help to erect the tents). All windows and doors of the tents are fitted with treated mosquito netting. Each person will get a 5cm high-density foam camping mattress to sleep on while camping.
The bush ablutions consist of high-slung bucket showers and bush toilets with canvas screens for privacy. Round (200V/2pin) power units are available in the vehicles to recharge cameras and in Maun there are Internet cafes and photoshops that will download digital photos. In Livingstone we stay in rooms at a comfortable Zambian lodge.
