Itinerary for this Budget Camping Safari

DAY 1: Windhoek to Etosha National Park – Namibia

The 5 Day Etosha Budget Camping Safari departs from Windhoek, heading into Namibia's famous Etosha National Park, in northwestern Namibia. Our first overnight stay in Etosha will be at either Okaukuejo or Halali camp, both of which feature a floodlit waterhole for 24-hour game viewing. Elephant and black rhinoceros visit the waterholes on a daily basis in the dry winter season. A variety of other wild animals, such as leopard and lion, also frequent the waterholes, including various nocturnal animals. Facilities at the camps include a restaurant, a basic shop and a swimming pool.

(Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 2: Okaukuejo or Halali, Etosha National Park – Namibia

We venture into this 22 270 sq km game reserve on an early morning and a late afternoon game drive, taking in the wide-open expanse of the Etosha Pan. The flat green surface of this dry lakebed stretches out under the hot African sun, offering spectacular stark scenery and glimpses of ostriches amongst the shimmering mirages.

Our second night of camping in Etosha Park will be at either Okaukuejo or Halali, depending on animal movements. Halali camp features a secluded and scenically located waterhole offering visitors excellent opportunities for sighting a variety of game species. In the afternoon we have time to relax at our Etosha camp taking a swim in the pool or watching the wildlife at the watering hole.

(Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 3: Game Viewing in Etosha National Park – Namibia

Our next stop in Etosha National Park is on the eastern side of Etosha pan near the Namutoni rest camp, featuring a beautiful old German fort. We explore the northern part of the eastern area of Etosha renowned for its vast herds of plains game and home to lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, kudu and Namibia's smallest antelope, the damara dik dik. We will spend the next night in Etosha camping at one of the rest camps.

(Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 4: Etosha Park to Waterberg Plateau Park – Namibia

On day 4 of our Namibian camping safari we embark on an early morning game drive and then depart from Etosha Park travelling south towards the Waterberg Plateau Park. Along the way we make a quick stop in the town of Otjiwarongwe to do some shopping.

The Waterberg Plateau is a flat-topped geological feature towering around 200m above the surrounding landscape. The plateau consists of orange-red sandstone featuring some interesting rock formations and steep cliffs. Some rare animal species, including the white and black rhino, sable and roan antelope, are bred in the Waterberg Plateau Park. The only breeding colony of endangered Cape vultures in Namibia is found on the western edge of the Waterberg Plateau. There are numerous rewarding walks to choose from in the Waterberg area, near our overnight camp.

(Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 5: Waterberg National Park to Windhoek – Namibia

In the morning we take an optional game drive in the Waterberg Plateau Park. We then head back to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, bringing the 5 Day Etosha Budget Camping Safari to a close.

(Meals Included: Breakfast)
