Affordable Tanzanian Lodge Safari

A fantastic way to explore the best wildlife on offer in several of Tanzania's top game reserves in the comfort of lodge accommodation, but at a excellent price!

This Tanzanian Safari starts off in Arusha before heading for Tarangire National Park for some excellent game viewing. Our next safari destination is the famous Serengeti National Park, where we will spend 3 days on rewarding game drives in search of Africa's Big 5 and other wild animals. The vast Serengeti Park is home to the natural phenomenon that is the great Wildebeest Migration.

From the game-rich plains of the Serengeti the safari continues through Olduvai Gorge, where we will stop and visit the museum that houses several of Dr Leakeys fossils dating back to the origin of mankind, and on to the Ngorongoro Crater! One of the last true "Gardens of Eden", the Ngorongoro Crater offers superb game viewing.  

Our last game viewing destination on the Affordable Tanzanian Lodge Safari will be the Lake Manyara National Park, where we will embark on game drives in search of any wildlife that we haven't seen yet.

Your Budget African Safari of a lifetime will come to an end back in Tanzania's small gateway town of Arusha.

Day 1: KILIMANJARO AIRPORT TO HOTEL IN ARUSHA – TANZANIA

At the start of the Affordable Tanzanian Lodge Safari you will be greeted by your safari guide at Kilimanjaro Airport. The guide will assist you with your luggage and escort you to the car for the 1 hour drive to your hotel on the outskirts of town of Arusha.

Arusha is the starting point of your affordable lodge safari in northern Tanzania. The first overnight stay on this safari will be at a 4 Star Resort or Hotel near Arusha.

Day 2: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK – TANZANIA

After breakfast, your safari guide will brief you on your daily itinerary and tel, you more about the 10-day Tanzania lodge safari. We then depart from Arusha for an approximately 2-hour long drive to Tarangire National Park.

This park offers wide panoramas of open acacia woodland and grassland savannah, where huge herds of elephants (often two hundred strong) and other unique wild animals, such as fringe-eared Oryx and Lesser Kudu roam free. Lion, cheetah and leopard also inhabit Tarangire Park.

We head to our affordable Tanzanian lodge for check in and lunch. This will be followed by an afternoon game drive in Tarangire National Park. We will return to the safari lodge in time for dinner and stay overnight at a 4 Star lodge or safari camp.

Day 3: TARANGIRE PARK TO KARATUU – TANZANIA

Today after breakfast we take an early morning game drive in Tarangire National Park returning to the safari lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon we take a scenic drive through the local village of Mto wa Mbu and on to the village of Karatuu situated near the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area. We check into our 3 Star lodge in Karatuu and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 04: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – TANZANIA

After breakfast this morning we drive to Serengeti National Park, where we will spend the next 3 days game viewing.

Our drive to Serengeti takes us via the Ngorongoro Crater area through the Malanja Depression, where we enjoy some en-route game viewing.

Entering the Serengeti National Park through Nabi hill gate we drive towards the Seronera River Valley keeping an eye out for wildlife as we make our way to the visitors' centre where we stop for a picnic lunch.

After lunch we embark on an afternoon game drive in the wildlife-rich Serengeti. At the end of a rewarding day of game viewing we head to our 4 Star lodge near Serengeti for dinner.

Day 5 & 6: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – TANZANIA

After breakfast on both days we explore Serengeti Park on morning and afternoon game drives in search of the abundance of wildlife inhabiting this vast game park, which is as big as Northern Ireland.

The Serengeti is one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries and one of the finest in the world. Serengeti Park is an unforgettable safari destination, renowned for its fantastic natural beauty and unequalled in its scientific value.

Serengeti National Park is home to a wide variety of wild animals including the big cats (lion, leopard, and cheetah) as well as elephant and buffalo. Your safari guide will help plan your day and suggest the choice of hot lunch at the lodge or picnic lunch.

Our afternoon game drives in Serengeti Park end before 6:00pm when we return to the 4 Star Lodge for dinner and overnight on both nights.

Day 7: SERENGETI TO OLDUVAI GORGE – TANZANIA

After breakfast we check out of our safari lodge and depart from the beautiful Serengeti National Park, enjoying one last game drive with a picnic lunch as we leave.

We travel via Simba Kopjes and Naabi Hill gate driving towards the Ngorongoro highlands and Olduvai Gorge.

We visit the Olduvai Gorge museum featuring the famous Zinj skull, the Zinjanthropus man of 1.8 million years ago, whose remains were found here by Dr. Leakey. If time permits we will also visit a Maasai Village before continuing to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim were we will stop to admire one of the most spectacular views of the Ngorongoro Crater.

After admiring this natural masterpiece we proceed to our 4 Star lodge or guesthouse for dinner and an overnight stay near Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 8: NGORONGORO CRATER – TANZANIA

After an early breakfast we will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day safari trip with some fantastic game viewing. We enjoy a picnic lunch on the safari or return to your safari lodge for a hot lunch, depending on your choice.

The oval shaped Ngorongoro Crater covers an area of 300km² and is 610m deep. The crater is home to Africa's finest wildlife, including the Big Five of Africa. The crater is an ideal habitat for the African wildlife that you will encounter at close range.

In the afternoon we ascend to the Ngorongoro Crater rim with its rolling blanket of clouds in a dreamy setting. The afternoon is free for relaxing at the Tanzanian safari lodge, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at a 4 Star safari lodge.

Day 9: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK – TANZANIA

Today we embark on morning and afternoon game drives in Lake Manyara National Park, one of the most popular and attractive national parks in Tanzania.

For a relatively small area in size, Manyara Park contains a variety of habitats home to diverse animals and birds.

Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its tree-climbing Lions and numerous migratory birds. We return to the lodge at midday for a hot lunch before taking the afternoon game drive which is followed by dinner and overnight at the 4 Star hotel near Lake Manyara.

Day 10: FROM LAKE MANYARA HOTEL TO ARUSHA – TANZANIA

After breakfast we check out the safari lodge and return to the city of Arusha bringing the 10-day Affordable Tanzania Safari to a close.

If you are travelling to Nairobi a 2:00 pm shuttle bus to Nairobi can be arranged or you can get a transfer to the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARU) for your onward journey.
