Dzalanyama Forest, South Luangwa NP & Lake Malawi Safari

Departing from Lilongwe we head straight to the Dzalanyama Forest Reserve, we walk through the beautiful indigenous vegetation home to an outstanding array of bird life. The lodge we stay at is located amongst a mass of greenery with a water stream flowing nearby which is gret for an afternoon swim or you can choose to merely relax under the canopy of trees.

We return to Lilongwe and travel to Luangwa Valley enjoying a picnic along on our way to Zambia's premier Reserve - South Luangwa National Park. Morning and evening game drives are included.

Our last destination is Senga Bay in Lake Malawi. With crystal clear waters and endless sandy beaches this is the perfect way to end a holiday. You can snorkel and dive amongst the colourful coral or simply enjoy a cocktail whilst lazing on a desolate beach!

The tour ends back in Lilongwe.

Day 1: Lilongwe to Dzalanyama Forest – Malawi

Depart Lilongwe mid morning [or direct from the airport] and drive to Dzalanyama Forest Reserve. Driving time 1 & 1/2 hrs. Lunch followed by a walk in and around the surrounding Brachystegia Forest and nearby stream. Evening dinner. Overnight at Dzalanyama Forest Lodge.

Day 2: Dzalanyama Forest – Malawi

After an early cup of tea or coffee and a light snack, we go on an approximately 4 hour walk. The area is renowned for its excellent bird life and at times antelope are seen. Return to the lodge and enjoy a delicious brunch [eggs, bacon, toast, salads, cold meat etc] after which there is time to relax or swim in the cool mountain stream that flows past the front of the lodge.

The afternoon is spent around the waterfalls- a short drive away. We return to the lodge, as it gets dark, using a spotlight to see nocturnal animals and birds. Evening dinner. Overnight at Dzalanyama Forest Lodge.

Day 3: Lilongwe, Malawi to Luangwa Valley, Zambia

After an early breakfast we depart to Lilongwe in time to join the Luangwa safari. Depart Lilongwe at 09h00 continue to Zambia then proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and we arrive at the Lodge at about 2.30pm. On arrival we check into our chalets followed by tea and coffee. Dinner is served around 20h00.

Day 4 & 5: Luangwa Valley – Zambia

After a light snack with tea & coffee we depart for a morning drive at 06h00. All game drives are undertaken in specially modified safari vehicles, to optimise your pleasure and experience. Drinks and snacks are taken along for your enjoyment whilst in the park. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 11h00 for a scrumptious "brunch". An afternoon rest, swim, and tea then we again head out for our afternoon drive at around 16h00 - returning to the lodge at 20h00.

Day 6: Lake Malawi & Senga Bay – Malawi

After breakfast we make our way back to Lilongwe. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and we continue to Lake Malawi & Senga Bay. We arrive at the lodge in Senga Bay in time for a sundowner. Overnight on a Dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Day 7: Lake Malawi beaches – Malawi 

A day to relax on the secluded and private beach or to explore the surrounding area on foot. Various optional activities on offer. Overnight lodge on Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis.

Day 8: Lilongwe – Malawi

After breakfast transfer back to Lilongwe in time for your return flight or onward journey.
