This a remarkable 11 day adventure firsty takes you to Zambia's premier Reserve - South Luangwa National Park and then on to a sailing safari onboard a luxury catamaran on Lake Malawi.
We leave Lilongiwe and head straight across the Zambian border to South Luangwa - home to a diversity of game and wildlife which you are guaranteed to see during one of the many morning or evening drives.
From Lilongwe we take a road transfer to Senga Bay where a yacht awaits to take us straight to the beautiful and remote Eastern shores of Lake Malawi. Here, you are able to snorkel and dive in the azure water and go a shore to explore the endless, palm fringed beaches.
We then set sail for Likomo Island where you can get off the boat and venture into the little town steeped in heritage and culture with interesting stalls and craft markets.
We visit Chisimulu Island, where we are spoilt to a sundowner in a baobab tree before sailing across the mainland to Senga Bay. From here we catch a road transfer back to Lilongwe where the tour ends.
The ultimate "Beach & Bush" Getaway.
Depart Lilongwe at 09.00am by road heading towards Mchinji. Proceed through the Zambian border. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata. Take the dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch en route and ETA at the Lodge is 2.30pm. Accommodation in en-suite chalets. Take a gentle walk along the Luangwa River. Dinner at the lodge.
Tea, coffee and a light snack follow an early morning wake up call. Our aim is to be on our first game drive by 6.15 am. All game drives are undertaken in specially modified safari vehicles. Depending on game sightings, we return to the lodge at 11.00am for a scrumptious "brunch". We take an afternoon rest then head out for our afternoon drive at around 16.00pm - returning to the lodge at 20.00pm, in time for dinner. Luangwa is renowned for its night game drives which are included in your safari.
After a more leisurely start to the morning and a full breakfast, we pack up and depart back to Lilongwe. Departure time is 0900. A picnic lunch is eaten en route and ETA in the city is 1500. Check into your lodge for dinner bed and breakfast.
From Lilongwe, road transfer to Senga Bay. The yacht will be anchored in a sheltered bay at Senga Bay awaiting guests arrival. Set sail to Chiofu Bay on the Eastern shores of Lake Malawi. Beautiful, remote, sheltered bay. A great anchorage. Good fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Go on shore for a beach barbeque under the African stars. Overnight on a yacht at anchor in the bay.
Take a nature walk before breakfast. Superb views over the lake. Have a refreshing swim followed by a hearty breakfast. Up anchor and sail on north up the lake to Palmeiros Lush palm trees make this a pretty overnight anchorage. Dinner and overnight on board the yacht.
Set sail early in the morning to Likoma Island. Take a walk through the cobbled market square and visit the magnificent St. Paul's Cathedral. Enjoy the culture and history of Likoma Island. Find anchorage in one of the many bays around the island. Swim, dive, snorkel, rest and relax. Meals on board the yacht. Overnight at anchor.
Sail across to Chisimulu Island or continue to a sheltered spot further south. Enjoy fishing, diving and snorkeling around the island. Go for a leisurely walk on Chisimulu Island. Have a drink in the unique bar-in-the-baobab tree. Dinner and overnight on board.
Sail across to the mainland. Arrive at Senga Bay where guests disembark for their transfer to the overnight Hotel. Guests check into the beach Hotel on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
After breakfast guests take a road transfer to Lilongwe (+- 2 hours) - Drop off at the airport or in Lilongwe for their onward journey.
