Accommodation Description:

Accommodation on this Victoria Falls Adventure Package is at a comfortable lodge set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in Victoria Falls. The lodge lies on the edge of the Zambezi National Park offering affordable luxury accommodation in Zimbabwe. This Vic Falls package provides accommodation in the lodge’s standard rooms with en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Most of these well-appointed rooms feature balconies that overlook the river or swimming pool with some looking out onto the lodge’ gardens and the national park.

The lodge facilities include a riverside restaurant with an a la carte menu as well as a buffet of African cuisine. Nightly traditional performances are held in the restaurant. The lodge also has a Zimbabwean style bar that overlooks the river and a bar next to the swimming pool. Afternoon teas, snacks and beverages can also be enjoyed on the shaded terrace beside the pool.

The lodge has a gift shop, activity centre and reading nook and services include complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, satellite TV, electronic safes, mosquito nets and more.

ACTIVITY ONE:

Zambezi Sunset Cruise

You will set out on a two and a half hour Zambezi River sunset cruise where the aim is to sit back and relax while enjoying sightings of elephant, giraffe, buffalo and even rhino coming down to the river to drink. You will also need to keep your eyes peeled for crocodiles, hippos and some amazing birdlife. The cruise is done at a mellow pace with an expert guide on hand. There is an open bar and fresh snacks are served, adding to the enjoyment of this leisurely ride on the Zambezi. A truly relaxing river cruise!

White Water Rafting

The White Water Rafting experience on the mighty Zambezi has been described as the best commercial white water rafting experience in the world. This full day white water rafting excursion on the mighty Zambezi River is a fantastic experience for those with a sense of adventure. The day is all about clean water, a healthy helping of African sunshine and a dose of exercise; all this against the backdrop of one of the beautiful waterfalls in the world the spectacular Victoria Falls.

The day begins early with a briefing and breakfast. Its then off on your adventure where you will tackle some Grade 5 rapids under the expert guidance of world class guides. Lunch is included. At the end of the day you will be lifted out of the gorge where you will be met with cold drinks and beers. At the end of the white water rafting excursion you get to watch a DVD of your thrilling day of Zambezi rafting. A truly exhilarating experience!

Upper Zambezi Canoe Safari

A great day spent canoeing on the upper section of the Zambezi River. Your day begins with breakfast followed by a 40 minute transfer to the start of the canoe trail. On arrival you will receive a safety talk and you will then get to practice your paddling skills before setting off on your full day Canoeing Safari. You will get to see some amazing creatures from elephants to spectacular birdlife along your journey. The day's pace is relaxed with an emphasis on taking in the beautiful fauna and flora. Your day on the river includes lunch. You journey ends at around 16.00pm with a transfer back to the accommodation. A fantastic day on the water!

Elephant Back Safari

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to interact closely with African elephants. You are encouraged to actively participate in the ride and connect with these amazingly gentle creatures. Upon arrival you will receive an introductory talk and be introduced to the Elephants. You then mount the elephants and head off on a bush trail through the pristine bush and valley of the Masuwe River in Zimbabwe. On the ride you can expect to see elephants, kudu, buffalo, impala, leopard and sometimes even lions and numerous bird species. Each elephant is guided by a handler and the ride lasts for 1 hour. On completing the elephant back ride, you will dismount and interact with the Elephants on the ground. The whole experience takes about 3 hours from pick up and can be done in the morning or afternoon. Please note that the technique used in handling the elephants is based on a positive reinforcement method as opposed to a discipline and submission method.

Lion Encounter

Without a doubt one of the most popular and unique experiences available at Vic Falls. You will get to interact with African Lion cubs on a one-on-one basis. The cubs age range from 3-16 months. The actual experience lasts approximately one and a half hours and during this time you will gain real insight into the behaviour of this threatened African species. The lions are unrestrained and roam freely as you join them on a walk through riverine vegetation and African bush on the banks of the Masuwe River in Zimbabwe. The experience is fully supervised under the guidance of an expert team. Lion Encounters can be done as morning or afternoon excursions.

Helicopter Flight of Angels over Vic Falls

Experience the thundering Vic Falls and mighty Zambezi River from a bird’s eye view on a thrilling helicopter flight. The helicopter used for flights over Victoria Falls is designed to provide all passengers with a good view of the magnificent scenery below. There are also take short flights over Batoka Gorge downstream of Vic Falls and upstream over the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park, to spot wildlife roaming in the game park below (not included in the tour price) as well as Microlight flights in an aircraft featuring a wing-mounted camera and an open cockpit (not included). From above the falls it is easy to see why the helicopter flight is called the Flight of Angels!  

Optional Adventure Activities (not included in the tour price):

Horseback Safari (3 hours)

Experience the African Bush along the banks of the Zambezi River on the back of a horse. This Horseback Safari will allow you to get up close and personal with several game species endemic to the area including duiker, bushbuck, warthog, elephants, hippos and crocodiles. The outride is under the expert guidance of game rangers. The Safari is designed for inexperienced riders, and for those who have had considerable riding experience. You will be grouped with riders of similar experience to your own to ensure you get the most out of your outing. A perfect way to assimilate with the natural game of the area.

Rafting and Riverboarding

The ultimate place for riverboarding - the Zambezi River has the necessary volume of water and few exposed rocks in its rapids and pools, making it ideal for this exhilarating activity. Riverboarding can be done as a half or full day activity and is combined with rafting in an action-packed and thrilling adventure. Along the way stops are made to relax and play between rapids and clients always have the option of switching to the back-up raft. The riverboarding adventures are lead by trained and professional guides with first aid certificates to ensure your safety.

Park fees are not included (Between US$ 5 to US$ 15 for each activity).
White Water rafting is generally not available in late April and early May as the water level on the Zambezi is too high.
