This Botswana Exclusive Camping Safari to Chobe & Moremi departs from a pre-arranged meeting point in Maun at 07h30 on day one. Your guide will meet you in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta, from where you will drive to Moremi Game Reserve, one of Botswana's top game parks.
We spend the first two days of this wildlife safari exploring Moremi Reserve on game drives in search of the impressive array of wild animals and prolific birdlife found in this diverse Botswana game park. Moremi is considered one of the most beautiful game reserves in Africa covering the eastern part of the Okavango Delta where mopane woodland and acacia forests contrast with watery floodplains and lagoons.
Moremi is home to elephants, especially numerous during the dry season, as well as buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyaena and jackal. A wide variety of antelope species, including the rare red lechwe, are also found in Moremi, along with healthy populations of endangered African Wild Dog.
During our stay in Moremi Reserve we embark on game drives in the early mornings at sunrise and again in the late afternoons at sunset. Our early morning game drives are followed by lunch and a rest back at the safari camp. We also enjoy game viewing from the fresh perspective of a mokoro excursion along one of the channels of the Khwai River, a tranquil and intimate wildlife experience.
We will be camping in the unspoiled wilderness at private designated campsites with ensuite bush ablutions on every tent. (B,L,D)
Day 1: Maun – Moremi Game Reserve: 150km, 6h (including game drive)
Mokoro excursion: 2,5 h
On day three we leave Moremi Reserve making our way north east to Chobe National Park, boasting one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa.
Botswana's most diverse wilderness area, the vast Chobe Park is best known for its large herds of migratory elephants. Next our journey in search of wildlife takes us across the drier Savuti plains of Chobe. Savuti hosts one of Chobe's highest concentrations of wildlife and is renowned for its predators, including lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
The Savuti Channel is flowing again after a 30 year long dry spell changing the natural landscape and supporting different species that have perviously been unable to survive in the arid plaines of Savuti. This exciting event has attracted large breeding herds of elephant as well as buffalo to the Savuti area.
We will camp in in the wild at private designated sites with ensuite bush ablutions on every tent. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Moremi – Savuti: 120km. 5-6h
We continue north to the Chobe River meandering along the banks of the river on our game drives as we look out for elephants, hippos and buffalos, as well as rich birdlife including the African Fish Eagle.
The Chobe River Floodplain is an excellent game viewing area as the waters draw large herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra and other herbivores, in turn attracting numerous predators. The sunsets in this region of Chobe Park are spectacular making for amazing photographic opportunities. We embark on a relaxing sunset cruise along the Chobe River, a great way to get a closer look at the aquatic animals and birds from the water.
This excellent value for money Botswana Exclusive Camping Safari ends at 12h00 on Day 7 in Kasane, Botswana.
In the Chobe wilderness area we will be camping in private designated sites with en-suite bush ablutions on all tents. The camping areas selected are remote and wild providing a real African bush experience. (B, L, D)
