This nine-day northern Tanzanian safari offers luxury camping and lodge accommodation and game viewing in Tanzania's best game reserves. This exclusive African budget safari starts and ends in Arusha visiting Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater.
The Tanzania exclusive budget safari starts with lunch in Arusha town in northern Tanzania. At 14:00 we depart Arusha for the Tarangire National Park arriving in time to enjoy an evening game drive in the park. The Tarangire National Park covers an area of about 2,850 sq km and is famous for its large elephant population, old baobab trees and tree climbing African pythons, lions and leopards.
We return to the overnight camp close to Tarangire National Park for dinner.
On day two we set off on a morning game viewing drive in Tarangire
National Park. The park offers rich game viewing from wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and impala to predators, Koori bustards and ostriches. The park is home to gazelle, lesser kudu, hartebeest and eland too. Tarangire National Park is the only place in Tanzania where you can regularly spot antelope such as the fringe-eared Oryx and long-necked Gerenuk.
Meals are served at the overnight camp near Tarangire National Park.
After breakfast we drive to Lake Manyara to the north west of Tarangire National Park. We stop at the day-three overnight safari lodge for lunch before continuing into Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive.
Upon arrival at the freshwater Lake Manyara we take a game drive into the lush Lake Manyara National Park. The compact game reserve offers diverse game viewing opportunities within its 325 sq km (125 square miles) area. This narrow strip of wilderness is home to hippos, monkeys, tree climbing lions and elephants. The watery Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its flamingo population as well as being rich in various other birdlife species.
After our game drive in the Manyara National Park we return to the tented lodge for dinner and overnight at the exclusive safari camp.
In the morning we set off on another rewarding game drive in the scenic Lake Manyara National Park.
We return to the tented safari lodge for lunch and depart for Tanzania's most famous game reserve, the Serengeti National Park, thereafter. We enjoy dinner and overnight at a safari camp in the Serengeti.
We spend two full days game viewing on safari in the Serengeti National
Park. Tanzania's Serengeti National Park is best known for its spectacular annual wildlife migration and offers some of the world's best game viewing. This is Tanzania's oldest and most popular game reserve.
Every year 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 350,000 gazelles migrate across the vast Serengeti plains in search of water and grazing, in what is referred to as the Great Migration. The Serengeti is an exhilarating and unforgettable wildlife safari experience at any time of year.
Over these two days we enjoy meals and overnight at the safari camp in the Serengeti.
On day seven we drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area stopping at Olduvai Gorge on the way. Olduvai Gorge is a famous geological site known Louis and Mary Leakey's archaeological discoveries. The site is also called The Cradle of Mankind as the fossil findings include some of the earliest known remains of man's ancestors.
We continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where we enjoy lunch at the overnight safari lodge. We spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoy dinner at the safari lodge near the Ngorongoro Crater in the evening.
Half of day eight is spent on a wildlife safari inside the Ngorongoro Crater. We descend
We descend 2000 ft (over 600 m) to the base of the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest volcanic caldera. The Ngorongoro crater is home to an estimated 25,000 animals including lion, rhino, zebra, gazelle, and wildebeest.
On the Ngrorongoro wildlife safari drive we explore wooded forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the crater's lake area, home to flamingos and other birds and the open savannah or grasslands where lions roam. Picnic lunches are served in the crater and we return for dinner at the overnight safari lodge near the crater.
After breakfast we return to Arusha, ending the exclusive camping safari of north Tanzania parks off with lunch at a hotel in Arusha.
