A perfect getaway to Botswana and the "smoke that Thunders" - Victoria Falls.
You will start your overland adventure safari in Johannesburg and head towards Botswana where you will meet face to face with the Bushmen of the Kalahari. From there you head onwards to the Jewel of Botswana - The Okavango Delta. You will spend a few days exploring this beautiful part of the world. From the Okavango Delta it's off to the Moremi Game Reserve which has some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Botswana.
Leaving Botswana behind you will spend a few days at the Adventure Capital of Southern Africa, the Victoria Falls. You then will head back into Botswana to visit the Khama Rhino Sanctuary before continuing your journey back to Johannesburg via the Limpopo Province where your adventure safari trip of a lifetime ends.
On day one of this adventure safari we depart from our hotel in Johannesburg at 07h30 and head into the Central Kalahari Desert. Overnight stay at Nkisi Guesthouse (or similar) (Accommodated - Lunch, Dinner).
We set up camp at a Bushmen village in the vast, semi-arid Kalahari Desert. The Bushmen village project is managed and owned by the local Bushmen community, with all proceeds directly benefiting the community. We take a one hour guided bush walk with a local guide who shows us the many traditional uses of the plants and animals in the surrounding environment. (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Arriving in Maun on day three of the Botswana and Victoria Falls Adventure Safari we have the option of a scenic flight over Botswana's Okavango Delta (own expense). We stay overnight in Maun, the ‘gateway' to the Okavango Delta. In the evening we relax around the campfire and prepare for our 4x4 safari excursion into Moremi Game Reserve the following morning. (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Our next safari destination is Moremi Wildlife Reserve, where explore the wilderness area on early morning and late afternoon game viewing drives in open 4x4 vehicles. We embark on an adventure, exploring the winding waterways of the famous Okavango Delta by mokoro (dug out canoe). We stop for lunch on one of the remote delta islands and enjoy a game walk in the unspoilt bush (subject to delta water levels). (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
The Khwai area of Moremi is a pristine wilderness area of great beauty, with lush green vegetation and palm trees. Khwai is teeming with birdlife and hosts a vast population of wild animals. We enjoy early morning and late afternoon game viewing drives exploring the game reserve in open 4x4 safari vehicles. (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
We take one last early morning game drive before leaving Moremi Game Reserve and making our way back to Maun, arriving in time for lunch. After lunch in Maun we drive to Planet Baobab where we camp among giant Baobab trees, on day eight of our adventure safari in Africa. (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Today we cross the border entering Zambia and heading to the mighty Victoria Falls, known as The Smoke that Thunders or locally as "Mosi-oa-Tunya". This thundering waterfall is a highlight in any safari trip, as one of the most spectacular sights in Africa. Our days in Livingstone are spent at leisure, which leaves you to choose from browsing the local markets and visiting the Falls or participating in some of the adventure activities on offer at Vic Falls (own expense). Victoria Falls is considered the adrenalin capital of Africa, offering numerous exciting activities, including white water rafting, bungi jumping, microlighting/ airplane or helicopter rides over the Falls, rhino walks, elephant back safaris and more. (Camping - all meals excluding 1 lunch & 1 dinner).
On day 11 of the Botswana & Victoria Falls Safari we set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River. Chobe is famous for its beautiful scenery, magnificent sunsets and abundance of wild animals and birdlife. We take a relaxing game viewing boat cruise on the Chobe River at sunset. (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Travelling south through Botswana we arrive at Khama Rhino Sanctuary in the late afternoon. The following morning is free for optional activities, such as rhino or giraffe tracking, game viewing drives and nature walks (own expense). (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
On day 13 of our Southern African adventure we cross back over the border of South Africa, setting up camp for the last night in the scenic Limpopo Province. You can take an optional game viewing night drive on the final evening of this adventure safari (own expense). (Camping - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
We make our way to Johannesburg via the ‘Jacaranda City' of Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa and home of the famous Union Buildings. The Botswana and Victoria Falls Adventure Safari ends at about 16h00 in Johannesburg. (Breakfast, Lunch).
