Itinerary:
Day 1 Addis Ababa
We begin the day with a city tour with a local guide who will
show us the wonders of this ancient and fascinating city.

Day 2 Debre Markos
An early start sees us heading for the Debre Libanos Monastery.
After the church we head for Debre Marqos, stopping to see
some of Ethiopia’s famous endemic birds and the impressive
Blue Nile Gorge. Hotel BLD
Day 3 Bahir Dar
Today it’s off to Bahir Dar. We arrive at the hotel
before lunch where you will have the opportunity for a rest
and then we take a boat trip to visit the 13th century island
monasteries of the lake. Hotel BLD
Day 4 Gonder
A visit to the unbelievable Blue Nile Falls is followed by
a visit to some local castles and palaces before a city tour
concludes our day. Hotel BLD
Day 5 Semien Park
The fantastic Simien Mountains are the backdrop to today’s
adventure. Some sightseeing is followed by a visit to see
some baboons that are unique to Ethiopia. Hotel BLD
Day 6 Semien Mountains & Tekeze Valley
We spend the day driving through the Simien Mountains where
there is the opportunity for some brilliant photographs. We
also visit the Tekeze Valley en route to Axum. Hotel BLD
Day 7 Axum
A day of rest and relaxation. We do a city tour that includes
the St Mary of Zion Church, world famous as the possible final
resting place of the Ark of the Covenant. The Axum Museum
and the tombs and palaces of the Axumite Kings. Hotel BLD
Day 8 Mekele
En route to our overnight stop at Mekele we visit the church
of Abreha-We-Atsbeha which is hewn from the rocks and the
Negash Mosque – reputedly the first Islamic settlement
of Ethiopia. Hotel BLD
Day 9/10 Lalibela
Today it’s off to the fascinating region of Lalibela.
We visit the clusters of mysterious rock hewn churches from
the 12th century and marvel at the unique local culture. Hotel

Day 11 Dessie
Through changing and marvellous scenery we head back towards
Addis Ababa, stopping frequently to take in local sights and
markets, before stopping for the night in Dessie. Hotel BLD
Day 12 Addis Ababa
A long drive back along interesting winding roads through
villages and small towns sees us arrive at our final destination
of Addis. The evening is spent with the group recounting our
adventures and discoveries. Hotel BLD
Day 13 Addis Ababa
The tour officially ends after breakfast, if you have time
before your return flight it may be nice to explore some of
the interesting local markets in Addis. Tour ends. Own arrangements,
