This trip leaves from Johannesburg or Cape Town. Clients
departing from Cape Town will board an Intercape bus to Upington
and meet the group on Day 2 (booked by African Budget Safaris
and the cost is included in the tour cost). More details are
supplied on booking.

WHAT IS PROVIDED: All ground transportation,
services of experienced qualified driver / guide, camping
equipment (2 person dome tents, mattresses, cooking equipment),
all highlights, meals, entrance fees & accommodation per
itinerary.
NOT INCLUDED: All visa costs are the clients
responsibility, travel insurance, flights, departure taxes,
sleeping bags, items of a personal nature, drinks, optional
activities.
PARTICIPATION: Participation safari - clients
to erect their tents and help with cooking, washing dishes
and vehicle cleanliness.
Itinerary:
Day 1 Upington South Africa
Departing Johannesburg or Cape Town, we head to Upington,
spending the evening camping on the banks of the Orange River.

Day 2 Fish River Canyon Namibia
As we enter the magical land of Namibia, the stark change
in landscape is noticeable. After setting up camp and exploring
the area, we enjoy the magnificent sunset over the Fish River
Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world. (BD)
Day 3 Aus Namibia
This morning we explore the Canyon, after which we take a
relaxed drive to Aus, a small town on the edge of the desert.
We camp at Klein Aus, a farm set amongst the rocky hills and
enjoy hikes while looking out for the wild 'desert horses'.

Day 4 Luderitz Namibia
We make our way to the ghost town of Kolmanskop where a guided
tour takes you through this eerie town. We continue onto the
fishing town of Luderitz, where an optional boat trip to the
penguin colony can be enjoyed. We return to Aus for the night.

Days 5 and 6 Sesriem Namibia
Driving to Sesriem we venture into the Naukluft Park for great
photo opportunities. We explore the famous dunes of Sossusvlei
some of which are the highest in the world. (BLD)
Days
7 and 8 Swakopmund Namibia
Waking up to the silence of the desert, we journey through
the Namib-Naukluft Park. The lunar landscape appears, as we
get closer to the coast. Continuing our journey to the oasis
town of Swakopmund where you can relax on the beach, visit
the seal colony, go deep-sea fishing, quad biking, parachuting
or sand boarding. Evenings to be spent exploring the popular
nightlife that Swakopmund has to offer. (B)
Day 9 Cheetah Farm Namibia
Leaving the coast behind, we head inland and northwards to
our overnight stop at the cheetah farm. We camp right next
to the cheetah enclosure and enjoy a unique experience with
these endangered felines. (BLD)
Days 10 and 11 Etosha National Park Namibia
Etosha is ranked as one of Africa's great game parks and is
home to a large population of animals. The saline Etosha pan
stretches for 120 km and is a sanctuary for largest population
of Black Rhino in the world. Our days are spent game viewing.
Bird watching, and taking in the superb scenery of this arid
region. (BLD)
Day 12 Windhoek Namibia
We head south to Windhoek, Namibia's capital, where your tour
ends in the late afternoon. (B)

Dinners are camp meals prepared by your guide with your assistance.
On days where lunches and dinners are not included we stop
at places where you can buy food at a reasonable cost.
CAMPSITES
We stay in a variety of campsites, from basic facilities only,
to ones with restaurants, swimming pools, bars etc. All campsites
have shower and toilet facilities, although it is advisable
to bring a small supply of your own toilet paper.
VEHICLES & GROUP SIZE
We utilize either a minibus that seats a maximum of 9 passengers
or a custom built safari vehicle which seats a maximum of
16 passengers.
The vehicles do not have air conditioning, but do have opening
windows. The night drive is done in an open vehicle.
EQUIPMENT
You are provided with the following equipment:
• 2 - person dome tent. These tents are very easy to
put up and down.
• If travelling on your own you may share with another
single person of the same sex.
• Mattress
• All cooking equipment for the group and utensils etc.
• Camping stools.
• Sleeping Bags may be hired for R50 per tour. Please
notify us in advance if you will require one.
WHAT TO BRING
For comfort reasons luggage is limited on each trip to 1 backpack,
1 small daypack, sleeping bag and camera per person. Soft
Bags only may be used (i.e.: no suitcases) We provide you
with your tent, sleeping mat and cooking equipment.

PARTICIPATION
Our tours are based on client participation and as an active
member of the group, everyone helps out with the running of
the tour, e.g. making campfires, cooking, setting up camp,
dishes etc. Its all part of the African experience.
Remember the more you put in, the more you get out!
MONEY OUTSTANDING
Your money will collected in cash by your driver at the point
of departure. Please note that Local Payments cannot be paid
by credit card and must be paid in cash.
POST TOUR ACCOMMODATION
Please note that backpackers in Windhoek have limited
space and are often fully booked. Should you require accommodation
for the night that the tour ends please advise us prior to
departure so that we can book it for you. This will need to
be prepaid when booking.
ONWARD TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
Due to unforeseen problems we recommend onward travel arrangements
be made only for the day after the tour ends. If arrangements
are made for the same day the tour ends, we cannot be held
responsible for any delays; you will have to take the risk
yourself. If you are making further bookings for busses, trains
or flights the day the tour ends we strongly recommend you
make them the latest time possible and that you inform African
Budget Safaris or the tour guide at the beginning of the tour.
