KAFUE NATIONAL PARK Departs
from Lusaka Mondays and Thursdays
4 Day 3 Nights
All Inclusive Price $495
Kafue is Zambia's oldest park and by far the largest. It
was proclaimed in 1950 and is spread over 22 400 square kilometres
- the second largest national park in the world and about
the size of Wales.Despite the Park's proximity to both Lusaka
and the Copperbelt, it has remained underdeveloped until the
most recent years. The park sustains huge herds of a great
diversity of wildlife. From the thousands of red lechwe on
the Plains, the ubiquitous puku, the stately sable and roan
antelopes in the woodland to the diminutive oribi and duiker.
The solid-rumped defassa waterbuck, herds of tsessebe, hartebeest,
zebra and buffalo make for a full menu of antelope. Large
prides of lion, solitary leopards and cheetahs are the prime
predators. There is a host of smaller carnivores from the
side-striped jackal, civet, genet and various mongoose.
Birdwatching - especially on the rivers and the dambos is
superb. Notables include the wattled crane, purple crested
loerie and Pel's fishing owl. Over 400 species of birds have
been recorded throughout the park.
Accommodation is in fully equipped walk
in 'safari tents'. All bedding is provided, and the tents
are all within easy walking distance of a purpose built shower

setting off on for an afternoon's game drive; here we have
a good chance of seeing the majority of Africa's big game
including the popular predators.

served in the main restaurant over looking the Kafue River
and the banks of the National Park with the chance of seeing
Elephants as they come for their evenings drink.

Today we are in the park all day, rising early we set off
about 06:00 for a complete day's game viewing. We will take
our lunch with us so we can go further into the park than
normal.
This is also a great chance to enjoy one of Zambia's famous
walking safaris, where you learn about the tracks, smaller
animals and also uses of trees etc; whilst it isn't intended
to see the big game, this does happen and adds to the adventure.

back to the Lodge. Returning back to the camp after sunset
for dinner and a welcome nights sleep.
Day

Another early start for a morning Drive, we then return to
the camp and relax until early afternoon; lounge around the
pool; compare stories at the bar or just sleeping in the tents.
The afternoon and early evening is spent on a river cruise
for sunset. This is the opportunity to see the animals as
they drink in the cool of the afternoon, we should be fortunate
enough to see Elephant, Buffalo and the antelopes, also of
course plenty of Hippos and some Crocodiles. After sundowners
and a final view of Africa's spectacular sunsets we return
to enjoy our final nights' meal.
Day 4
Morning is at leisure in the lodge, you can wake whenever
and enjoy a late breakfast. There is the chance to visit the
various community projects, which are supported by the lodge
