Itinerary:
Day 1
After breakfast we depart from the lodge and head to the Lower
Zambezi Game Management Area. Here we meet up with our boat
for a cruise down the scenic Zambezi River to Mvuu Lodge and
our first camp; here we enjoy lunch watching the waters of
the Zambezi flow past.
After lunch we'll relax until early afternoon, when we go
on a Boat Cruise during which we'll be able to observe, amongst
other things: Hippos, Crocs and Fish, not to mention our beautiful
African Sunsets. Returning to the camp for dinner around the
campfire.
Day 2
After an early start and breakfast, we have a safety briefing
before our 1-day canoe safari down the Zambezi.
The canoe safari is one of the highlights of the trip. We
have lunch on one of the islands in the river and have the
possibility of sighting large herds of Buffalo and Elephant
as well as many Hippos, Crocs and other animals. In the late
afternoon we'll paddle into our second night's camp spot at
our purpose built bush camp overlooking the river just outside
the border of the Lower Zambezi National Park.
Day 3
We'll get up early and head into the park to start our days
safari. As we take our lunch with us we spend as much time
as possible in the park
Lunch is spent at a safe and scenic location, where we spend
a couple of hours here out of the heat just relaxing and watching
the game as they come down to drink from the river.
After lunch we do an afternoon game drive, the cool of the
afternoon is a good time to spot the predators, as they prefer
to hunt in the cooler parts of the day. Arriving at a great
sundowner spot, to watch Sunset. We then go on an hour or
so night drive keeping our eyes open for the night hunters,
such as Lion and Leopard as well as many other nocturnals
such as Porcupine, Civet and Genet, returning back to our
camp for a delicious dinner
Day 4
Up early again for a two or three hour game walk in the Game
Management Area, the game walk is a great experience, our
guide and armed scout show us how to identify different types
of spoor and droppings, also they'll teach you about the medicinal
and spiritual uses of the many different plants and trees.
We return to the campsite for lunch. The rest of the day is
spent relaxing by the river, before we cross to the nearby
island for sundowners and a final view of the Zambezi River
and the park. Returning to the campsite for a final meal under
the African night's sky
Day 5
We leave about 10:00 for our return trip to Lusaka, stopping
at an island for lunch and arrive back ChaChaCha Backpackers
at about 16:00 to enjoy dinner.
