Cape Town Mountain Bike Safari

This tour is a fantastic way to see the remarkably diverse scenery of the Western Cape- from the seat of a bicycle!

Leaving from the foot of Table Mountain at Blouberg Strand you ride to the winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschoek, where you get a taste of why South Africa has such a fine reputation for its wines!

Heading to the coastal town of Hermanus, riding close to the shore gives you an opportunity to spot whales and other marine animals.

En route to Cape Town, we travel through Cape Point Nature Reserve, famous for its fauna and flora and home to a number of animals and creatures.

This Cape Town Mountain Bike Safari is done at a leisurly pase with the emphasis on taking in the surrounding areas.

DAY 1: Cape Town to Stellenbosch – South Africa

Today we'll bring you to the world famous Blouberg Strand to have a last look at Table Mountain, heading out of the city for the next following days. After pictures have been taken we cycle through scenic countryside to the Cape's famous wine region and old town of Stellenbosch. After checking into our lodge we'll head out to see what the town has to offer. If you want, you can take part in one of the wine tastings.

DAY 2: Stellenbosch via Hellshoogte Pass to Franschhoek – South Africa

On day two of the Cape Town Mountain Bike Safari, we'll have about 45 km to cycle. The support vehicle will take anyone over steep hills and passes that would prefer that. After leaving Stellenbosch we cycle over Hellshoogte Pass into Franschhoek. En route we can enjoy another wine tasting if anyone likes.

After the wine tasting we'll transfer the last few kilometers into Franschhoek. In the afternoon you can explore the quaint Western Cape village of Franschhoek.

DAY 3: Franschhoek to Hermanus – South Africa

Today we'll have a longer driving day and leave the wine lands to head towards the coast. Our destination is Hermanus, in season one of the best places to spot whales. Once we've arrived we'll explore this little coastal town by bike.

DAY 4: Hermanus – South Africa

Today we'll take you into a nature reserve outside of Hermanus. Here we can cycle the whole morning through forest roads and have lunch in the nature reserve (Fernkloof Nature Reserve). The afternoon is free to enjoy Hermanus or take part in optional activities like Shark Cage Diving.

DAY 5: Hermanus to Cape Point Nature Reserve – South Africa

On day five of the mountain bike safari we'll leave Hermanus behind, heading for the Cape Point Nature Reserve. The whole day is spent cycling along various roads and of course to the Cape Point, where you can leave your bicycles and walk to the Lighthouse. After having enjoyed this pristine environment we'll give you a lift back to Cape Town for a final night in this beautiful city.

Day 6: Cape Town – South Africa

Today the Cape Town Mountain Bike Safari ends in Cape Town. We hope to welcome you back to South Africa again soon!
