About Budget Overlanding - Camping
As the name suggests Overland Camping involves travelling by overland truck through Africa, and camping under the African Stars along the way.
Camping is usually done in the various rest camps along the route, but can also involve "bush camping" if there are no rest camps in a specific area. This all adds to the camping experience.
The tents used are mostly walk in canvas two man dome tents, that are comfortable and well ventilated. Full participation is required when camping, and you will be expected to help out with meal preparation on a roster basis, as well as putting your tent up and taking it down.
The participation within the group environment cements the relationships you develop within your group and provides you with a temporary family away from home.
The average age bracket that chooses the camping option is 18 to 45-year-olds, however this is the norm rather than the rule. As long as you have a sense of adventure, and do not mind getting involved with your fellow travellers this form of travel can be great fun even if you’re 60!
