Itinerary for this Camping Overland Tour

DAYS 1 & 2: Stone Town (B day 2)

Upon arrival in Zanzibar you will be met by our local representatives and transferred to your local guesthouse in Stone Town. This hotel, your base for the first two days of the trip, is superbly located in the heart of fascinating Stone Town.

Whilst physically Stone Town is relatively small in size it is a town that bursts with vibrant colour and intriguing history. Wandering along narrow alleys teeming with traders you encounter imposing mosques and crumbling Arabian houses behind studded wooden doors. Stone Town is a hub of frenzied activity - school children run with excited shouts whilst veiled women glide past in flowing robes - the sounds and sights of everyday life will intoxicate your senses!

There are several guided activities that you may take from Stone Town such as a walking tour of the city or a sunset dhow cruise, providing perfect photo opportunities of the City from the water. Alternatively head inland to visit the cheeky Colobus monkeys of Jozani Forest or across to the southern eastern coast to Kizimkazi to swim with pods of bottlenose and humpback dolphins. For the opportunity to swim and snorkel from Stone Town a tour to a nearby island such as Prison, Uzi or Pungume Island may be a preferred option.

DAY 3: Stone Town to Kendwa Beach (B)

Today you will embark on a spice tour as you travel to the perfect sands of Kendwa beach on Zanzibar's north coast - the perfect place to swim, snorkel or scuba dive or simply unwind.

Enroute you will pass the Marahubi Palace Ruins which nowadays are literally foundations, but a short history will be explained by your guide. Upon reaching the spice plantations a guided walk will be undertaken where you're shown herbs and spices, fruits and other crops, and are given a fascinating description of their uses, with plenty of opportunity for smelling and tasting.

Your accommodation for the remaining two nights will be at Kendwa Beach, with distinct sea views one of the best beaches in Zanzibar. Here you can swim in the crystal clear warm tropical waters all day (as this beach is not affected by low tide) and relax on the peaceful white sand beaches. There is a bar and restaurant right on the beach - a perfect place to enjoy sunset over the Indian Ocean.

DAY 4: Kendwa Beach (B)

Today you are at leisure to indulge in the beauty of the beach or to take one of the optional activities on offer in the area. Kendwa is the perfect place for a range of water sports, from snorkelling to swimming, fishing or boating, or a scuba diving excursion to Mnemba Island and offshore reefs.

DAY 5: Kendwa Beach to Stone Town (B)

Bidding a reluctant goodbye to the perfect sand beaches our guide will transfer you back to either the airport of seaport of Stone Town where you part ways after having experienced the magic of Zanzibar.
