Lake Malawi and Liwonde National Park Boat Safari

A perfect Lake and Game viewing Safari offer. This budget boat cruising Safari offers the perfect getaway to explore Lake Malawi and Liwonde National Park. The Safari is perfect for those clients who want to activly participate in cruising on Lake Malawi. The Safari departs from Chipoka Harbor and head out to the Cape Maclear Islands, Mangochi and then on to Liwonde National Park where you will spend a night. YOu will go out on a great game viewing Safari in the National Park. YOu then go back on board and head out to explore the bays and islands that charactarise Lake Malawi before ending off back in Lilongwe.

Day 1.

Road transfer from Lilongwe to the harbor at Chipoka (1 ½ hours on good roads).   Go on board your boat.  Sail from Chipoka to Cape Maclear islands (3 ½ hours)  Overnight at anchor in the shelter of the islands.

Day 2

After breakfast, set sail south from Cape Maclear to Mangochi ( 7 hours).  Stop off for swimming and snorkeling.  Go on shore at Mangochi for a few drinks in the local lakeside bar.  Overnight at anchor in the bay.

Day 3

Today you set sail south, down the Shire river and into Liwonde National Park.  Beautiful trip with excellent game viewing from the roof top of the boat  .  Arrive at the barrage.  Short road transfer to Chinguni Hills in Liwonde National Park.  Afternoon / evening game drive. Overnight accommodation at Chinguni Hills

Day 4

Early morning game drive, followed by breakfast. After breakfast, meet the boat at the barrage and set sail north up river and back into Lake Malawi.  A full day on the boat.  Overnight on the boat anchored at Nkudzi Bay.

Day 5

Set sail from Nkudzi Bay, come in through the Ilala gap into Cape Maclear.  Dinner and overnight on shore at Gecko Lounge, Cape Maclear.

Day 6

Early breakfast followed by boat transfer across to Chipoka (3 ½ hours)  Road transfer to Lilongwe (1 ½ hours)

The Boat Description:

The boat is a 36 foot long, inboard engine, cedar wood, open-plan, ferry type boat,  licensed to carry 30 passengers.  Stable and sturdy, this boat is great for cruising on Lake Malawi. She is geared up as a full live-aboard boat for up to 10 guests. Based at Cape Maclear, Lake Malawi.  The boat has the following features:
