I grew up in a small town not far from Cape Town so always had the advantage of living in a beautiful environment with beaches, mountains and forests on my doorstep.
But my love affair with Africa starts in England; I was on a gap year and met a group of Zimbabweans. After hearing about the incredible Victoria Falls I was determined to see them. So I joined an overland tour as a cook, I was responsible for feeding twenty people every day – I've done my fair share of camping in those years and seen fantastic African sunsets, incredible wildlife and breathtaking scenery. What I enjoyed most was seeing the change of seasons, from wet to dry and how the landscapes changed each time I travelled through it. After three years of over landing, I joined an Orange River adventures group and spent more than a year taking water tours. From there I joined another tourism venture and found myself consulting on Africa before joining African Budget Safaris. When I think back to my first trip to Zimbabwe to what I know about African now, it really is incredible. Each country is different and the experiences on offer are mind-blowing.
