Itinerary for this Tour

Day 1: Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe

Our Victoria Falls to Botswana & Namibia Safari begins at the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. One of the world's most spectacular waterfalls, Victoria Falls plunges 100 meters into a deep and winding gorge filled with turbulent rapids and whirlpools. The power of the waters produces a mist that sits over the waterfall and is visible from many miles away.

Tonight, we stay at a comfortable lodge located very close to the falls. The first day of our Africa Overland Tour is free to explore this unique place and try out one of the many tours and adrenaline activities on offer. Visit Victoria Falls National Park to see the falls up close. Following this, you could consider going on an adventure such as bungee jumping, ziplining over Victoria Falls or white-water rafting on the world class rapids. Take a scenic flight to view the falls from the sky or enjoy a serene sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.

  • Optional Activities: Victoria Falls visit, bungee jumping, helicopter and microlight flights, white water rafting, gorge swinging, Zambezi sunset cruise, boma dinner experience, and more.
  • Meals: No meals

Day 2: Victoria Falls & Kasane – Botswana

This morning you are free to relax, stroll round town or enjoy more of the many optional adventure activities in Victoria Falls.

After lunch, we climb aboard our overland tour vehicle and cross the border into Botswana. We make our way the short distance to Kasane, located near the confluence of four countries: Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. On night two of our Africa Overland Tour, we stay at a safari lodge on the banks of the Chobe River right next to Chobe National Park.

Kasane is the gateway to the renowned Chobe National Park, known for its large elephant population. In the afternoon we will take a boat cruise on the Chobe Rive, keeping a lookout for birds and animals attracted to the lush grazing on the riverbanks.

  • Included Activity: Chobe River Boat Cruise
  • Optional Activities: Victoria Falls visit, bungee jumping, helicopter and microlight flights, gorge swinging, and more.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Kasane to Nata – Botswana

Day 3 of our Victoria Falls to Botswana & Namibia Safari sees us head south into the dry savanna of northeastern Botswana. We are headed to the Makgadikgadi Pans, one of the largest salt flats in the world, spanning 16,000 square kilometers. Despite its desolate nature, this vast sea of white supports wildlife such as water birds and great herds of game during the rainy season.

Our lodge for the night is an oasis located among the Mokolwane Palms on the edge of Nata Pan, one of the string of pans making up Makgadigadi. This afternoon we will take a guided drive to the pans and immerse ourselves in this surreal landscape.

  • Included Activity: Pans Drive
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4: Nata to Maun & Khwai River Conservation Area (Okavango Delta) – Botswana

On Day 4 of our Overland Africa Tour, we head west through the Makgadigadi Pans and to the town of Maun that will serve as our base for our two-day adventure into the Okavango Delta.

On arrival in Maun, you have the option to take a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta, an incredible area of waterways and islands that covers up to 15 000 square kilometers during the wet season. (depending on weather and time constraints). This is a truly spectacular way to see the wonder of this unique ecosystem – a river delta flowing into an ancient desert and playing host to a breathtaking variety of plants and animals.

We are collected in smaller 4x4 safari vehicles for our journey into the Okavango Delta (You will need to pack a smaller overnight bag for this excursion). Our drive takes us through the Okavango Delta back roads to the Khwai River Conservation Area that lies in the northeastern section of the delta. For the next two nights we stay in permanent safari tents with en suite bathrooms at a tented camp with sweeping views of the Khwai River floodplains.

After settling in, we head out in the vehicles to a nearby station to meet up with our local guides who will take us out on the Okavango Delta waterways in traditional mokoro boats. Glide through the water channels and keep a lookout for the delta fauna & flora. Your guide will stop at one of the small islands for a short walk. As we glide back, enjoy the play of light as the sun sets over the delta.

  • Included Activity: Sunset Mokoro Excursion
  • Optional Activities: Scenic Okavango Delta Flight
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5: Moremi National Park (Okavango Delta) – Botswana

Today we explore the Moremi region of the Okavango Delta on our epic Africa Overland Tour. Moremi Game Reserve is an area of approximately 5,000 square kilometers (1,900 square miles) in the northeastern part of the Okavango Delta. Moremi has a diverse landscape of waterways, lagoons and pools woven between pans, grasslands, and forests. This terrain transforms in the rainy season into a natural paradise that supports an impressive variety of plants and animals. It is home to the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros), and some of most endangered of the large mammals like cheetah, white rhinoceros, black rhinoceros, and African Wild Dog. It is also home to nearly 500 species of bird, from water birds to migratory birds and forest dwellers that makes it a bird watchers dream.

  • Included Activity: Full Day Game Drive
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6: Khwai to Maun – Botswana

This morning we leave the delta behind and drive back to Maun in our 4x4 safari vehicles. Keep a lookout for our last animal sightings in the great Okavango Delta.

Back in Maun, the rest of the day is at your leisure. Relax at our centrally located hotel. You also have the chance to join an optional scenic flight over the Okavango Delta (time and weather permitting) to take in the grand scale and beauty of this unique ecosystem and to spot wildlife from above.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7: Maun to Divundu – Namibia

On Day 7 our Victoria Falls to Botswana & Namibia Safari travels northwest through the delta backroads into our next African country, Namibia. Border crossing complete, we have a short drive to the village of Divundu located on the Kavango River in the Kavango East Region of Namibia.

We will stay at a lodge just outside town that features a sparkling swimming pool with a picturesque view of the Kavango River as well as 2 big sunset decks on the front of the river. Later, we will take a boat cruise up the Kavango River admiring the scenery and spotting wildlife on the riverbanks. Hippos and crocodiles can often be seen floating by. (Note: This cruise may take place tomorrow morning).

  • Included Activity: Kavango River Boat Cruise
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 8: Divundu to Etosha National Park – Namibia

The road follows the Kavango River before heading southwest into increasingly more arid countryside. We will spend the next three nights in Namibia’s premier safari destination, Etosha National Park. This vast 18,000 square kilometer park is dominated by Etosha Pan, a huge salt pan that is visible even from space.

Entering Etosha the wildlife adventure begins as we proceed to our overnight camp, located inside the national park. The park is renowned for its abundant wildlife that is supported by a network of waterholes located around the park. Look out for lion, elephant, cheetahs, jackals, giraffes and a host of antelope, from the striking oryx, unusual black-faced impala to the tiny Damara dik-dik.

We spend the next three nights of our Overland Africa Tour in en-suite accommodation at two of the three rest camps in Etosha, which feature floodlit watering holes for excellent game viewing opportunities from the comfort of camp. Make your way to the waterhole after dark to watch for nocturnal wildlife and sit back around the campfire listening to the night sounds of the African bush around us.

  • Included Activities: Afternoon Game Drive
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 9 & 10: Etosha National Park – Namibia

Spend two full days exploring Etosha National Park. We take game drives along the fringes of Etosha Pan, spotting wildlife from the raised vantage of our overland tour vehicle. Along the way, we stop at watering holes and scan the open plains for wildlife and birds. The sparse vegetation of the pan makes game spotting easier as we observe animals congregate at the life-giving waterholes dotting the bush. Keep an eye out for elephants in the bushy areas, as well as rhinos and elusive leopards. Hosting over 340 bird species, birding enthusiasts will be rewarded with a variety of sightings, from the martial eagles and kori bustards to bee-eaters and ostriches.

Between game drives, relax by the pool. Spend the evening relaxing around the campfire and watching for wildlife at the spotlit watering hole.

  • Included Activities: Etosha National Park Game Drives
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (x2)

Day 11: Etosha to Khorixas – Namibia

Early this morning we hop back on our overland safari truck and continue our search for wildlife and birds as we driver through Etosha National Park to the park gates. Exiting Etosha we make our way into the remote and sparsely populated Kunene Region of Namibia, through rugged, rocky landscapes snaked with dry riverbeds.

We will make a fascinating detour to the Petrified Forest, a national monument that serves as a window into our prehistoric past. Here, you'll encounter fossilized tree trunks that once towered over the landscape millions of years ago, now preserved for eternity.

Our journey continues to the captivating Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings. A local guide will lead us around this remarkable site that was home to the Khoi San people for an impressive 6,000 years. The area boasts one of the most extensive concentrations of rock petroglyphs in Africa. Each engraving narrates a unique story, providing profound insights into the beliefs, traditions, and daily life of the Khoi San people.

Our journey concludes in the charming town of Khorixas where we will overnight in a comfortable lodge.

  • Included Activity: Morning Game Drive, Petrified Forest, Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 12: Khorixas to Swakopmund – Namibia

Leaving Khorixas on our final morning, our Africa Overland Tour continues across the arid gravel plains headed west where the scorching desert sands meet the icy Atlantic Ocean. We head down the coast and stop at the acclaimed Cape Cross Seal Colony, a bustling habitat that is home to over 200,000 Cape Fur Seals, which can often be seen basking along the shoreline. (Please note that accessibility to Cape Cross Colony may occasionally be restricted due to natural or environmental conditions, preventing us from visiting the seals.)

Our adventure continues to the Lichen Fields, where your guide will delve into the fascinating world of the lichen colonies that carpet this area. This stop presents an excellent opportunity for photography enthusiasts to capture the intricate beauty of these unique organisms. Next, we make a short stopover at the picturesque seaside town of Wlotskasbaken. The town's charming houses and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean provide fantastic photo opportunities.

Our destination is the charming coastal city of Swakopmund. Namibia's 'Adventure Capital' brims with thrilling activities designed to satisfy even the most daring adrenaline seekers. The town is small enough to explore on foot, and boasts striking architecture, charming boutiques, and an array of dining establishments. We recommend booking a few extra in Swakopmund after this safari in order to enjoy the exciting adventure activities available here.

Our Victoria Falls to Botswana & Namibia Safari comes to an end upon arrival in Swakopmund.

  • Included Activity: Cape Cross Seal Colony, Lichen Fields, Wlotskasbaken Town
