This Zimbabwe & Botswana Safari departs from a pre-arranged meeting point in Maun at 07h30 on day one.
Your safari guide will meet you in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. From Maun, your guide drives you to Moremi Game Reserve, on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta. Moremi is the only officially protected area in the Okavango Delta. En route to Moremi, we stop for a break, and your guide briefs you on the Botswana Safari adventure ahead.
We spend the first three days of this wildlife safari exploring Moremi Game Reserve on game drives in search of the impressive array of wild animals and prolific birdlife found in this diverse wilderness area of Botswana. Moremi is considered one of the most beautiful game reserves in Africa covering the eastern part of the Okavango Delta where mopane woodland and acacia forests contrast with watery floodplains and lagoons.
Moremi is home to elephants, especially numerous during the dry season, as well as buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, and jackal. A wide variety of antelope species, including the rare red lechwe, are also found in Moremi Game Reserve, along with healthy populations of endangered African Wild Dogs.
During our stay in Moremi, we embark on game drives in the early mornings at sunrise and again in the late afternoons at sunset. Our early morning game drives are followed by lunch and a rest back at the private safari camp. First, we explore western Moremi, around the 3rd Bridge and Xakanaxa areas. Then, on day three we move to a new campsite in northeastern Moremi to explore the Khwai River area near Khwai Concession. We camp in private campsites with bush ablutions in designated wilderness areas of the scenic Moremi Game Reserve.
On day four we leave Moremi Game Reserve making our way northeast to Chobe National Park, Botswana's leading national park. Chobe boasts one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa.
Botswana's most diverse wilderness area, the vast Chobe Park is best known for its large herds of migratory elephants. Next, our journey in search of wildlife takes us across the drier Savuti plains of Chobe. Savuti hosts one of Africa's highest concentrations of wildlife within Chobe and is renowned for its predators, especially lions and hyenas. We continue north to the Chobe River meandering along the banks of the river on our game drives as we look out for elephants, hippos, and buffalos as well as rich birdlife including the African Fish Eagle. In Chobe National Park, we camp at remote and private campsites with bush ablutions. First, we camp in the Savuti area for a night, and then we spend two nights camping in the northern part of Chobe, near the Chobe River.
We embark on a morning game drive in Chobe before crossing into Zimbabwe (visa required). Then we drive to the mighty Victoria Falls, where we stay overnight at a comfortable lodge. On the last night of this Zimbabwe & Botswana Safari dinner will be at your own expense at the lodge or out in Victoria Falls town.
In the afternoon you can visit the famous Victoria Falls, one of Africa's top natural highlights. Witnessing Victoria Falls, the largest curtain of falling water in the world is an unforgettable experience. Marveling at the waterfall you will see why the local Kololo people call it Mosi-oa-Tunya, which means "The Smoke that Thunders". You can also explore the town of Victoria Falls, go curio shopping and enjoy optional activities at Vic Falls.
Optional adventure activities in Victoria Falls include white water rafting and canoeing on the Zambezi River, swimming in Devil's pool, bungee jumping, and taking scenic microlight or helicopter flights over Victoria Falls.
The truly wild African bush experience of the Zimbabwe & Botswana Safari to Chobe, Moremi & Victoria Falls officially ends after breakfast on day eight.
The Zimbabwe & Botswana Safari starts at 07h30 on day one; therefore you will need to spend the night before the tour departs in Maun, and purchase drinks for your safari the day before the safari starts. We recommend an extra day or two after the safari at Victoria Falls Zimbabwe to participate in some of the amazing adventure activities available. Post-tour accommodation, activities, and transfers to Victoria Falls airport or lodges or Kasane in Botswana, can be arranged at an additional cost.

The vehicles used on this Botswana Safari are custom-built safari vehicles, designed for safari trips in the African bush. Each vehicle carries up to 12 passengers, ensuring excellent visibility on game drives, as well as great movability in the wilderness. Throughout the safari, we use a specially designed trailer unit containing a mobile kitchen and space for all of the camping equipment and luggage.
On this semi-participation safari we will be camping at bush campsites in 2.1m x 2.1m x 1.75m bow tents that are easy to set up (clients help to erect the tents). All windows and doors of the tents are fitted with treated mosquito netting. Each person will get a 5cm high-density foam camping mattress to sleep on while camping.
The bush ablutions consist of high-slung bucket showers and bush toilets with canvas screens for privacy. Round (200V/2pin) power units are available in the vehicles to recharge cameras and in Maun, there are Internet cafes and photo shops that will download digital photos. In Victoria Falls we stay in en-suite rooms at a comfortable lodge.

This tour does take children.
While the minimum age for guests on this scheduled safari is 12 years old, occasionally we may make exceptions during low season (November to June), or perhaps for children who have already travelled on an adventure holiday etc.
The safari camps are wild camp sites, in remote areas of Botswana and these camp sites are not fenced. Animals do come through the campsite at night and it is important that children are able to listen to and follow the guide safety instructions for the different areas on safari.
The guides are highly professional and very experienced, so guests will be safe in their care as long as they abide by the safety rules.
