Choose from exciting optional activities at reasonable rates and enjoy warm African hospitality on this authentic African safari experience to South Africa's top game viewing destination - Kruger.
This Kruger Park Budget Lodge Safari kicks off early on day one, departing from Johannesburg city at around 5h30 in the morning.
We travel about 570 km's northeast through South Africa from the dynamic city of Johannesburg, otherwise known as Egoli - the 'City of Gold', making our way to Greater Kruger Park. Our 8 to 9 hour journey (including en route stops) takes us to Greater Kruger Park and our safari lodge.
The Greater Kruger Park is South Africa's largest collective protected area, covering some 2 million hectares of African wilderness. The Greater Kruger consists of Kruger National Park proper and several private game reserves that share unfenced borders with the national park.
Arriving at our comfortable lodge in Greater Kruger we enjoy a well-prepared lunch. Then there is some free time to relax at the lodge, before we set off on our first exciting 4x4 game drive in the Greater Kruger.
We venture into a private game reserve in Greater Kruger on our late afternoon to evening game drive in open safari vehicles. The game drive takes us in search of the Big Five of Africa and nocturnal wildlife that comes out after dark. We stop at a watering hole in the bush to watch the wild animals and enjoy sundowners before continuing our thrilling night drive.
Then we return to the safari lodge for a hearty dinner in traditional South African style and an evening around the flickering campfire in this beautiful bush environment.
Today we rise early in the morning and drive into Kruger National Park proper, to enjoy a full day of game viewing in this vast Big Five wilderness area. Kruger is a world-famous safari destination, known for its excellent sightings of the Big Five of Africa - lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.
Kruger National Park is South Africa's top game park, the flagship national park of this diverse country. We explore Kruger Park in search of the abundance of wildlife and birds found in this vast game reserve. The 19 485 km² Kruger National Park, one of Africa's biggest game parks, is home to about 150 mammal species, more than 500 bird species and 100 reptile species, among other life forms. We drive to parts of the Kruger that are known for excellent game sighting opportunities, to improve our chances of spotting wild animals and other creatures. Common sightings include hippos, giraffes, zebras, various antelope species and endangered African Wild Dogs.
While in the bush we stop for breakfast at one of the shaded picnic spots inside Kruger National Park, continuing our exploration after breakfast. For the remainder of the day we go in search of Kruger's phenomenal animal and bird life, visiting active watering holes and pausing for lunch (own account) at one of the rest camps in the wild.
In the late afternoon we leave the national park, returning to our safari lodge in Greater Kruger for dinner around the campfire and a relaxed evening under starry African skies.
On day three we embark on a scenic Panorama Route trip, leaving the safari lodge in the morning.
We travel through one of the most beautiful natural areas in South Africa, the Panoramic Route, making our way along the breathtaking Drakensberg Escarpment. Along the way we stop to admire the spectacular views and impressive rock formations at God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels and Blyde River Canyon.
Returning to the lodge in Greater Kruger after a full day of taking in the scenic wonders of the Panorama Route, we unwind beside the fire and soak up the sounds of nature at night.
Day four is set aside for complete leisure in the African bush. The lodge offers great optional activities at reasonable rates, including visits to a wildlife centre or cheetah project in the area and a day trip into Kruger Park for more game viewing. Alternatively you can simply relax at the lodge pool, enjoying the lovely views of the Drakensberg Escarpment.
In the late afternoon you have the option of taking a 4x4 game drive in a Greater Kruger game reserve near the safari lodge. On the optional sunset game drive we use spotlights to search for the nocturnal animals that begin to stir as night falls in the bush.
After tracking wildlife on our last optional game drive we enjoy a final dinner in the open-air boma at the intimate lodge.
Rise and shine early on the last day of this Budget Kruger Park Lodge Safari for an exhilarating bush walk!
We embark on a morning bush walk in Greater Kruger, accompanied by a qualified guide. This nature walk is a great way to discover more about the untamed bush and its inhabitants up close, focusing on the finer details of the wilderness. Your experienced guide will help you to identify plants, birds, smaller creatures and animal tracks as you walk through the bush.
After the bush walk we take a leisurely drive back to Johannesburg and the bustle of civilization. Along our return journey via the Blyde River Canyon on the scenic Panorama Route, we stop to take in the awesome views of this gorgeous part of South Africa.
Our affordable Kruger Lodge Safari ends upon arrival back in Johannesburg, where you are transferred to the international airport or selected post-tour accommodation in Johannesburg or Pretoria.
Accommodation on night five is not included in the tour price, but can be arranged at reasonable rates, when booking your safari. International flights should not be booked for until after 10pm on the final day, to ensure sufficient travel time for smooth departures.
