This Victoria Falls & Elephant Lodge Safari begins with collection from the international airport in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
From the airport you are transferred to your first overnight lodge in Victoria Falls. The intimate and comfortable lodge is set on rambling grounds within walking distance of Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side. The rest of day one is free for you to relax at the lodge, explore historic Victoria Falls town or try out some of the numerous adventure activities available here.
Victoria Falls is known as the Adventure Capital of Africa, offering a dizzying array of activities, including sunset cruises, bungee jumping, zip-line rides, scenic flights and white water rafting, among others.
The second day on safari starts with a guided Vic Falls tour that brings you up close to the mighty Victoria Falls waterfall. The rest of the day is free for you to participate in optional adventure activities (own account) or relax at the friendly lodge - the closest lodge to Vic Falls in Zimbabwe.
After breakfast at the lodge in Victoria Falls, we set off south to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's premier game park. Huge elephant herds roam Hwange, also home to buffaloes, antelopes and zebras, as well as plenty of giraffes. Africa's predators can also be seen here, including leopards and the endangered African Wild Dog.
For the next two nights we stay at a rustic eco-lodge in a private concession bordering on Hwange Park, home to an abundance of wild animals and diverse bird species. This eco-friendly lodge is set in Sikumi Forest, overlooking a dry riverbed featuring an active waterhole. On the way to our lodge we stop to visit the Painted Dog Conservation Centre near Hwange Park. At the wild dog centre we find out more about these endangered carnivores and what is being done to protect them.
On the afternoon of day three we set off into the bush on foot with our expert guide. On our game walk we get a closer look at the wild animals and indigenous plants, also experiencing the thrill of possible encounters with big mammals. The whole of day three is set aside for game viewing in Hwange National Park, one of Southern Africa's top wildlife destinations.
Accommodation at the eco-lodge is in traditional-style thatched rondavels (round chalets) with en-suite bathrooms. Your stay at this authentic eco-lodge in Zimbabwe, is inclusive of game viewing activities, park entry fees, all meals and drinks.
On day five we visit a traditional Zimbabwean homestead to see how the locals live in rural parts of Africa.
Then we travel to our next lodge near Kasane, in neighbouring Botswana. Kasane is the travel gateway to Chobe National Park, home to one of Africa's highest concentrations of wildlife. The Chobe River flows along the northeastern border of Chobe National Park, attracting large herds of elephants, as well as giraffes, sable antelopes and Cape buffalos, among other animals. The Chobe floodplains are the only area in Botswana where the puku antelope can be sighted. The Chobe River also draws a variety of birdlife, making for superb bird watching.
Your two-night stay at the lodge is inclusive of all meals and game viewing activities (two game drives and a game viewing boat cruise). The lodge is set in lush gardens that attract wildlife and birds, on the tranquil banks of Chobe River, close to Chobe Park. Accommodation is in comfortable and spacious thatched chalets equipped with modern amenities.
After breakfast at the lodge we drive you back to Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe (depending on departure times). This 7 Day Victoria Falls & Elephant Lodge Safari comes to a close back in Victoria Falls.
