The 3-day Budget Etosha Lodge Safari is an opportunity to visit Namibia's top game reserve, Etosha National Park, to experience an affordable but comfortable and short wildlife safari.
This well-priced, private Namibia Safari Tour takes you on 4x4 game viewing drives in Etosha Park and offers excellent opportunities for sighting the nocturnal animals that visit the floodlit waterholes at Okaukuejo, Namutoni, and Halali camps. The comfortable accommodation on this safari trip will be at either Okaukuejo, Namutoni, or Halali camp in Etosha Park.
This is a great way to explore wildlife-rich Etosha National Park without breaking the bank!
The 3-day Etosha Budget Lodge Safari departs from Windhoek at 07h00, from where we head to the famous Etosha National Park in northwestern Namibia.
Our choice of camp depends on the animals' movements and availability, but we will spend two nights at either Okaukuejo, Halali or Namutoni camp. The Etosha camps feature restaurants, basic shops and swimming pools. The camps in Etosha also boast floodlit waterholes, allowing for 24-hour game viewing. During the dry winter season, elephant and black rhinoceros are regular visitors to the waterholes, as well as a variety of other wild animals, including leopard and lion.
Etosha National Park is best known for the vast salt pan, a 5000 sq km depression that becomes an oasis during the rainy season and attracts myriad animals and birdlife, including thousands of flamingos. During the dry season, the arid salt pan is a silver-white backdrop of shimmering mirages. Etosha National Park is named after this dry lake bed, with the name meaning 'great white place of dry water'. Etosha is home to 340 bird species and over 100 mammal species, notably the endangered cheetah and black rhino, as well as black-faced impala, tsessebe, roan antelope and gemsbok.
Today we head into this 22 270 km² game reserve on an early morning and a late afternoon game drive, taking in the wide-open expanse of the Etosha Pan. Stops at the waterholes provide excellent opportunities to watch the wide range of wild animals drawn to these precious sources of water. Large mammals are common and regular sightings include elephants, giraffes, zebras, oryx and a variety of other antelopes, as well as predators such as lions and cheetahs.
During the heat of the day, we relax at our rest camp, cooling off in the pool or watching wildlife at the waterhole.
Dinner is enjoyed at the camp's restaurant (own account).
We take a final early morning game drive in Etosha National Park, scanning the bush for resident wildlife and birds, many of which are active in the early morning hours. After our final 4x4 game drive we journey back south through Namibia to Windhoek. Along the way, we visit Okahandja to browse the local arts and crafts that the town is renowned for.
Our scenic and wildlife-rich Etosha Budget Lodge Safari ends in Windhoek on day three.
Accommodation on this Namibian Safari is at comfortable hotels, lodges or guesthouses with twin or single rooms and en-suite facilities. The selected establishments offer good levels of service and extra amenities such as a restaurant, bar, swimming pool and garden/ watering hole.
