This 6-day Zimbabwe Lodge Safari combines Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park, two of Africa's finest safari destinations.
Stand up close to the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls and feel the power of the world's largest curtain of falling water. Take a relaxing sunset cruise on the Zambezi River to catch an incredible African sunset while sipping on sundowners and watching for wild animals and birds. Then, head to an authentic eco-lodge, located inside a private game reserve near Hwange Park. Explore Hwange and the private reserve on 4x4 game drives, encountering mammals, reptiles, birds and other creatures of Africa, in all shapes and sizes.
Both of these African safari destinations offer exciting optional activities in addition to the included activities, from scenic flights over Victoria Falls and white water rafting on the Zambezi River to bush walks and night game drives at Hwange.
Arriving at the Victoria Falls Airport, your driver is there to welcome you to Zimbabwe. From the airport, you are transferred to your hotel in the historic town of Victoria Falls, where you spend the first two nights of this affordable Zimbabwe Lodge Safari.
The remainder of day one is free for you to relax at the historic hotel with its rambling grounds. Unwind and have a rest after your travels, enjoying the manicured gardens, swimming pool, and excellent facilities.
Alternatively, jump straight into outdoor and adventure activities (optional extra) in and around Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls is renowned for its thrilling adventure activities, from bungee jumping and white water rafting to helicopter flights and gorge swinging.
Enjoy a delicious dinner at the grand colonial-style hotel in Victoria Falls tonight.
Wake up and enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at the grand Edwardian-style hotel on day two of our Victoria Falls & Hwange Wildlife Safari. This morning we take a guided tour of the mighty Victoria Falls waterfall, one of the natural wonders of the world.
A truly spectacular sight, standing before the largest curtain of falling water on the planet is an unforgettable experience! Victoria Falls is called Mosi-O-Tunya by the locals, which means the Smoke that Thunders.
After visiting this impressive waterfall there is free time to participate in optional activities and explore the bustling town of Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side of Vic Falls. Do some sightseeing in the historic town and go to the local markets. Take the Flight of Angels - as flights over Vic Falls are called - in a fixed-wing plane, microlight or helicopter. Plunge off Victoria Falls Bridge on a bungee rope, zipline ride across Batoka Gorge, or abseil into the narrow gorge, or go kayaking or white water rafting on the Zambezi River.
Spend some time relaxing in the tranquil gardens of the hotel or take a short ten-minute stroll to Victoria Falls along the hotel’s private walking trail. Later this afternoon we set off on a laid-back boat cruise along the Zambezi River. Enjoy sundowners and watch a beautiful sunset from the boat, keeping an eye out for animals and birds along the river and admiring the spray of Victoria Falls in the distance.
On day three we have breakfast at the luxurious old hotel, before leaving Victoria Falls. Then you are transferred south-east through rural Zimbabwe towards Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's premier wildlife safari destination.
Our destination for today is an eco-lodge located in a private wildlife concession, just outside of Hwange National Park. Arriving at the exclusive safari lodge you have time to unwind and settle in before we head out on our first wildlife safari activity. Take a nap in your comfortable tented chalet, relax on your own veranda or take a dip in the pool.
Then we take a game drive or visit a local homestead. If you opt for a game drive, you can choose between exploring the private concession area or the Hwange National Park (only 13km from the safari lodge). Alternatively, we visit a traditional homestead to meet the locals and gain insight into African culture and the way of life in this part of Zimbabwe. This evening we return to the eco-lodge for dinner and a leisurely evening, watching for wildlife at the waterhole.
Day four of our Zimbabwe Lodge Safari is set aside for game viewing in Hwange National Park, the oldest game park in Zimbabwe. We go in search of the diverse African wildlife inhabiting Hwange in healthy numbers, coming across a range of local animals and plants.
Hwange Park is best known for its massive elephant herds, hosting one of the largest elephant populations in Africa. Hwange is also a stronghold for endangered African wild dogs and home to more than 100 species of other mammals. In addition to boasting a high diversity of other animals and plants, the park hosts some 400 species of birds.
Exploring parts of this 14 650 km² national park, the largest game reserve in Zimbabwe, we are sure to come across predators and herbivores aplenty. During our wildlife safari in Hwange, you get the chance to meet the dedicated anti-poaching unit. This encounter provides an opportunity to ask questions and gain insight into wildlife conservation on the ground in Zimbabwe.
After our fulfilling day in Hwange Park, we return to the private safari lodge to rest and enjoy the natural surroundings in comfort.
This morning we venture back out into the unspoiled African bush to search for African wildlife and birds while soaking up the wild scenery. Keep an eye out for any wild animals we may have missed so far and possibly catch some exciting wildlife action.
There are no activities planned for this afternoon, leaving you free to embark on an optional activity (extra cost) or take it easy at the comfortable safari lodge. You can laze at the pool, watch for wildlife at the waterhole, enjoy drinks on the viewing deck, and relax in the spacious guest areas or your private chalet.
Optional wildlife safari activities include bush walks and night game drives in the private game reserve and trips to the Painted Dog Conservation Centre at Hwange Park (with a complimentary transfer).
Wake up to the sounds of nature surrounded by the African bush and tuck into your final breakfast at the eco-friendly lodge. Then we leave our eco safari hideaway behind, returning to Victoria Falls where our Zimbabwe Lodge Safari began.
The two-and-a-half-hour drive takes us back to Victoria Falls Airport, where our Victoria Falls & Hwange Wildlife Safari ends.
