This Cape Town Holiday Package takes you on a full-day Big 5 Safari in Aquila Game Reserve, located two hours drive from Cape Town.
You are collected from your Cape Town hotel accommodation at the V&A Waterfront early in the morning for your full-day Cape Town Safari. Departing at about 06h45, we drive from Cape Town to Aquila Game Reserve, in our air-conditioned transfer vehicle. We travel via the scenic Cape Winelands, South Africa's premier wine-growing region, and the majestic Cape Fold Mountains.
Our drive takes us into the semi-arid Southern Karoo region, where Aquila Private Game Reserve is located. This is one of the closest Big 5 game reserves to Cape Town and one of very few Big 5 safari destinations in the malaria-free Western Cape Province of South Africa. Aquila is a family-friendly game reserve that caters to families with kids.
Upon arrival at Aquila Game Reserve at about 09h00, we are welcomed with refreshing drinks. A delicious breakfast buffet is then served at the safari lodge in Aquila. Breakfast includes juice, coffee, and a selection of teas.
After breakfast, we embark on our exhilarating Big 5 game drive in an open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle. The game drive lasts for about two to three hours and is conducted by a professional game ranger. Your experienced guide will regale you with tales of the African bush and its wild inhabitants, providing you with fascinating facts about the local flora and fauna. While you search out the Big 5 animals and the abundance of other wildlife found in the Aquila Game Reserve, your guide will also answer questions and point out interesting wildlife sightings.
Our game drive ends back at the safari lodge where a buffet lunch is served. After a leisurely lunch, you are free to relax at the safari lodge and enjoy the deluxe facilities. Take a dip in the large swimming pool, browse the curio shop, walk the labyrinth or play a game of giant chess. On cold winter days, settle down beside one of the cozy log fires in the lounge and bar areas. Alternatively, you can enjoy an optional (pre-booked) activity, at extra cost choosing from pampering spa treatments, or thrilling quad bike and horseback safaris.
At about 16h00 we depart from Aquila Game Reserve taking a scenic two-hour drive back to Cape Town. Arriving in the city between 18h00 and 19h00, your driver drops you off at the Waterfront Signature Lux Hotel or a pre-arranged drop-off point, bringing your full-day Cape Town Safari adventure to an end. The second night of your Cape Town Holiday Package is free for you to enjoy the nightlife and cuisine of Cape Town or unwind at the comfortable hotel.
Explore both the famous Cape Winelands and the coastal highlights of the Cape Peninsula in one day! Your full-day Cape Peninsula & Cape Winelands Tour takes you to the beautiful Stellenbosch wine route and along the stunning coastline of the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. In the morning you are collected from our Waterfront hotel in Cape Town between 08h00 and 09h00.
Half of the day is spent sightseeing along the rugged Cape Peninsula coastline, tracing the Atlantic Ocean from Sea Point around Cape Point to False Bay. This incredible drive takes in the best of Cape Town's white-sand beaches, quaint seaside villages, dramatic coastal cliffs, and wild natural areas hosting the unique Fynbos vegetation of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
For the second half of the day, we drive out to the historic, university town of Stellenbosch, set in the idyllic Cape Winelands. We explore Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa, to see its historical sights and national monuments, as well as the quaint shops and art galleries along its oak-lined streets. Our tour of the charming town is combined with a wine tasting tour at an acclaimed local wine estate - a real highlight in the top wine-growing region of South Africa. At the wine farm near Stellenbosch, we also take a tour of the wine cellar, browse the wine shop and do some cheese tasting, in addition to sampling the fine wines.
At about 5h30 you are dropped off back at the Waterfront Signature Lux Hotel in Cape Town. Spend the last night of this Cape Town Holiday Package exploring the city, sampling its abundant culinary delights and vibrant nightlife. Alternatively, dine in the hotel's stylish restaurant or relax in your comfortable hotel room and order room service.
