  • One transfer (to or from the airport)
  • Three nights accommodation (Bed & Breakfast)
  • Half Day Cultural Tour
  • Full Day Cape Wine lands Tour

Half Day Cultural Tour

Cape Town is not all about Table Mountain and the pretty beaches, there is the diverse human aspect to this cultural melting pot. The half day Township tour is a fascinating look at the "Township" side of this amazing City. You will get to meet and interact with the vibrant communities who populate the less affluent informal settlements of Cape Town.

You will learn about each community's history and way of life, gaining insight into contemporary South Africa. Meet some of the inspiring people who shape their local communities and mingle with the friendly residents. In some ways this is the "real" Cape Town far removed from the glamour, but just as intriguing. Highlights include District Six, the District Six Museum and the townships of Langa and Khayelitsha where you will visit a community school and Shebeen (informal bar). If your tour is on a Sunday you will also get to visit a Charismatic Church Service.

This is a colourful and lively cultural voyage of discovery!

Full Day Cape Wine lands Tour

Enjoy a full mellow day out in the beautiful Cape Wine lands! The tone of the wine route tour is informative, yet fresh and informal - with insights into wine, viticulture, the wine lands and South Africa, flowing as freely as the top-notch wines.

Highlights on this memorable tour of South Africa’s oldest wine route include:

  • Chatting to local wine masters over a glass of fine Merlot.
  • Sampling excellent vintages straight from the wine barrel.
  • Tasting an array of world-class and unique locally produced wines.
  • Learning all about wine, the history and process of wine making and the region.
  • Dipping into homemade specialties and local delicacies along the way.
  • Pairing full-bodied red wines of the Cape with decadent chocolates made locally.
  • Sampling all sorts of cheeses, from soft Camembert and buttery Brie to smelly Blue.
  • Heading underground to tour old wine cellars and learn about wine making.
  • Walking in the scenic vineyards of the open hillsides and scenic valleys.
  • Discovering Stellenbosch and soaking up the idyllic scenery of the Cape Wine Lands.

At around 8:00am today we set off into the heart of the idyllic wine lands on a fun and unique journey to taste true South African culture and the fruits of the finest viticulture in the land. Visit five wine farms uncovering the most memorable gems of the famous Cape Wine Route with qualified guides that are experts in wine, the art of wine making and the historic wine lands. This exciting wine lands tour explores a mix of not-to-be-missed famous wine estates and the best-kept secret farms only the locals know about.

Starting in Paarl we stop in at the famous Fairview estate where award-winning cheeses and wines are produced. After walking in the vineyards, learning about wine farming and the history of this celebrated beverage we enjoy a guided wine tasting with the wine master and a sublime cheese and wine pairing. Then we move on towards one of the oldest towns in South Africa, Stellenbosch, visiting family-run Villiera Wines, 10 km outside of town. This leading winery, run by the Grier family since 1983, produces quality wines and is best known for its Cap Classique. Sit out on the terraced lawns under the old oak trees here, sampling their superb wines.

On Sundays we visit the historic Muratie estate, nestled in a pretty valley, instead of Villiera. Once we’ve explored the wine estate, listened to some rich tales and taken an insider look at wine making on a cellar tour, we continue into Stellenbosch town. A guided drive-through tour of the charming town brings us to the family-run Middelvlei wine farm. Here we sip on their great wines and tuck into a traditional South African braai (barbecue) amid the vineyards.

After lunch at Middelvlei we drive to the hidden treasure of Lovane Estate to sample some outstanding wines and nibble on locally crafted chocolates. From the much-loved Lovane we head over to Annandale estate, where world-class wines are made. Owned by 5th generation wine producer and legendary Springbok rugby player, Hempies du Toit, Annendale is another favourite with visitors. We visit the rustic cellar and character-filled wine tasting room, festooned with memorabilia and old photographs. In true South African style we pair biltong (a local specialty of cured meat) with infinitely quaffable wines, some brandy and fresh fruits.

With appetites well sated and taste buds delighted we return to Cape Town at about 5:30, having experienced a mellow and marvellous day of wine-loving in the picturesque countryside.
