Four full days of unbelievably scenic cycling along some of the most famous and beautiful cycling routes in the world!
Cycle along the spectacular coastline of the dramatic Cape Peninsula, through the idyllic hills, valleys and mountain passes of the Cape Winelands and down to the renowned Cape Whale Coast.
This epic road cycle also takes in unique cultural, ecological and historical highlights - fynbos, whales, national monuments, historic towns, famous winelands, engineering feats and diverse terrains!
We collect you from Cape Town International Airport, or your pre-tour accommodation in Cape Town, and transfer you and your bike to Tokai.
Arriving in Tokai, one of the leafy Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, we help you to unpack and assemble your bicycle.
If there is enough time, we set off on a little cycle in the pretty Tokai area to test your bike and get a taste of the road that lies ahead on this classic tour.
The cycling begins! We start by riding along the seaside road fringing the dramatic Cape Peninsula. This well-loved route covers most of the ground that the world-famous Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour follows. The largest individually timed cycle race in the world, the Cape Argus attracts about 35 000 cyclists each March.
Our first day's cycle takes in highlights of the grueling 109km Argus Cycle Tour route, keeping the most scenic sections and dropping the parts closer to the city centre to avoid traffic. We cycle the lighthouse climb, instead of going into the CBD area, and circle around the Cape Peninsula from coast to coast. This challenging ride takes us from False Bay, via the stunning Chapman's Peak Drive, to Hout Bay and on to Camp's Bay - an incredibly beautiful coastal route.
Today we cycle into the picturesque Cape Winelands countryside, traversing breathtaking mountain passes.
Look forward to a full day of healthy uphill climbs, sweeping views, charming villages and refreshing mountain air. Our destination for today is the historic town of Stellenbosch, the second oldest European settlement in South Africa.
On day four we say set off into the renowned Cape Winelands, moving from Stellenbosch towards Franschoek and Paarl.
Our cycle takes us past some of the most established old wine farms in the historic wine growing region of the Western Cape, and on into the rugged Boland mountains. We cycle up the Bainskloof Pass, a national monument and engineering triumph. The reward for this uphill cycle - the unforgettable views and inevitable return downhill through the unique fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
With Stellenbosch as our springboard again, we cycle into the undulating hills of the pretty countryside, making our way towards the Whale Coast. Along the way we lap up panoramic views over False Bay, riding on through the seaside towns of Strand and Gordon’s Bay.
Cycling along the cliffs of the south-western shores of South Africa we soak up some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the country. Our final destination is the seaside town of Hermanus, one of the world's most famous whale watching destinations.
On day six we pack up our bikes and rest our tired legs on the scenic drive back to Cape Town. Arriving back in Cape Town we drop you off at the international airport or your post-tour accommodation.
