Camping is usually done in the various rest camps along the route, but can also involve "bush camping" if there are no rest camps in a specific area. This all adds to the camping experience.
The tents used are mostly walk-in canvas two-man dome tents, that are comfortable and well-ventilated. Full participation is required when camping, and you will be expected to help out with meal preparation on a roster basis, as well as putting your tent up and taking it down.
Participation within the group environment cements the relationships you develop within your group and provides you with a temporary family away from home.
The average age bracket that chooses the camping option is 18 to 30-year-olds, however, this is the norm rather than the rule. As long as you have a sense of adventure, and do not mind getting involved with your fellow travelers this form of travel can be great fun even if you’re 60!
There are a few tours where the traveler age is restricted from 18 years and up, so be sure to check with our team if you are travelling with under 18's.
