What is the Local Payment?

The local payment is a necessary payment - part of the overall tour cost - and is used to pay day-to-day operational costs that are incurred whilst on the road.

Typically, payment will be collected by your guide on the day of departure. We try to prepay as many of the tour costs as possible, however in some cases cash payment on arrival is the only option, because some of the attractions we visit will only accept cash.

Examples of Local Payment expenses are: 

• Park fees at most of the national parks
• Some accommodations and campsites
• Local food markets we visit to stock up on fresh produce
• Local guides we make use of will also require cash payment on the day
