Lake Manyara National Park is near the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, making it the perfect addition to a northern Tanzania safari. Manyara is known for its birdlife and beautiful scenery thanks to the Great Rift Valley lake it encompasses.
Lake Manyara National Park is also known for its diversity of wildlife and birds, including impressive flocks of pink flamingos, lions, elephants, and over 400 species of birds. Nestled in the heart of Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit, Lake Manyara National Park is a protected area located between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley in Tanzania's Arusha and Manyara Regions. It is managed by the Tanzania National Parks Authority and has a total area of 325 km² (125 sq mi), including about 230 km² (89 sq mi) of the lake's surface.
Just northwest of Tarangire Park and southeast of Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, visitors can explore this park by car or on foot.
Day game driving: Visitors are able to see the lion population known for its tree-climbing behavior. Tree-climbing lions can be found in Lake Manyara National Park and a few other places in Tanzania that are becoming more popular. Lake Manyara does not disappoint visitors on day game drives due to the variety of animal species such as smaller mammals like dik-dik, rabbits, and many others. As well as larger mammals like elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and warthogs.
Bird watching: In Lake Manyara National Park there are more than 400 species of birds. Pink flamingos, which sometimes migrate from Lake Natron to Lake Manyara, are the most appealing. Visitors enjoy bird watching not only in the park's forests but also at the lake. Other species include yellow-billed storks, marabou storks, geese, turkeys, weavers, pelicans, and hundreds more.
