Why Travel to Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha)? by

The Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) is often used as the starting or ending point for tours to South Africa's Garden Route, Wild Coast, and KwaZulu-Natal region, among others.

The small city also commonly serves as an access point for visiting the well-known Addo Park and the top-notch private game reserves of the malaria-free Eastern Cape, such as Kariega, Kwandwe, and Shamwari.

Visiting Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)

The main attractions in PE itself are the places of historical and cultural interest, as well as its vibrant nightlife, offering good restaurants, lively bars, and clubs.

Most visitors are drawn to PE during the summer months to enjoy the surf and sunshine at the numerous beautiful beaches that line the warm-water coast here.

Known as The Friendly City,Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) is a good place to unwind by the sea and try out some water sports in the warm Indian Ocean. There are enough sights and activities to keep restless visitors entertained for a week or so, including township tours to see the local culture.

Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) is usually combined with the Big Five Safaris to Addo Elephant National Park, about an hour's drive from the city. Safaris along the South African coast often travel to PE en route to Addo Park and the Sunshine Coast - an outdoor enthusiast and beach lover's paradise.

Many longer trips from Johannesburg and Kruger Park travel to Natal, the Drakensberg Mountains, Wild Coast, and the Eastern Cape passing through PE, sometimes staying over for a night or two.
