4 Day Sabi Sand Lodge Safari

This affordable four-day Sabi Sand Lodge Safari includes three nights in a comfortable private lodge inside the exclusive Sabi Sand Game Reserve within the Greater Kruger National Park. 

Day 1: Johannesburg to Sabi Sand Game Reserve – South Africa

The four-day Sabi Sand Lodge Safari starts off in the vibrant city of Johannesburg where you will be collected from your pre-tour accommodation (hotel/guesthouse) or our lodge between 7:00 and 7:30am. Leaving Johannesburg or Pretoria we travel east to Sabi Sand Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s top game reserves, in an air-conditioned mini bus.

Upon entering Sabi Sands we head to the safari lodge where we will spend the first three nights on safari. We arrive at our safari lodge in the world-class Sabi Sand Reserve at about 1:00pm, in time for lunch

After lunch you have a couple of hours to relax and settle in before we venture into the protected area on our first exciting game drive. The afternoon game viewing drive lasts for about three to four hours taking us into the evening. Dinner will be served when we get back from the game drive. Dinner is served in the lodge’s boma – a beautiful setting under starry African night skies.

About Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Sabi Sand Game Reserve, a 65 000 hectare private reserve within the Greater Kruger National Park, offers a more exclusive safari experience than the main Kruger National Park wilderness area. The Sabi Sand Reserve shares a 50 km unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park and generally offers upmarket safari accommodation for the discerning traveller. Our Sabi Sand Lodge Safari is unique in that it offers the budget traveller an affordable tour package with lodge accommodation within the Sabi Sand Reserve. Sabi Sand is famous for its superb leopard sightings, with the likelihood of sighting these large cats in Sabi Sand being higher than in the surrounding wildlife parks. Not only are the chances of spotting leopards in Sabi Sand almost guaranteed, but safari vehicles also frequently get as close as three to four meters from these amazing predators making for excellent photographic opportunities.

Day 2 to 3: Sabi Sand Game Reserve – South Africa

We get up early on the second day of the Sabi Sand Safari and have a refreshing coffee before embarking on our early morning game drive. Mornings are an excellent time of day for spotting wildlife and birds in the bush and morning game drives also avoid driving under the sun in the hottest part of the day.

Upon our return from the rewarding morning game drive in Sabi Sands breakfast will be served. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax at the comfortable lodge, take a swim and enjoy the lodge facilities. There is also the option of taking an exhilarating bush walk with a trained safari guide after breakfast. Guided bush walks are conducted with armed safari guides giving you the chance to experience Sabi Sand's wildlife up-close. Visitors get to enjoy close encounters in the bush and learn more about the wild animals and ecosystems in the area from the knowledgeable guides.

Later in the afternoon we head back out into the bush on an afternoon game viewing drive returning to the lodge for dinner in the evening. Day three follows the same itinerary as the second day of the Sabi Sand Lodge Safari.

Day 4: Sabi Sand Reserve to Johannesburg – South Africa

Another early morning on day four starts with a quick coffee before we head off into Sabi Sand in search of the abundant wildlife found in the private game reserve. This is your last opportunity for spotting and photographing Sabi Sand’s diverse wildlife. After our final game drive breakfast will be served and there will be some free time for you to relax and pack up. 

Our journey back to the dynamic city of Johannesburg takes us along the famous Panorama Route, one of South Africa’s most scenic areas. Highlights along this route include Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Waterfalls and our lunch stop at Pilgrims Rest. After lunch we travel the last four hours back to Johannesburg arriving at 7:30pm when you will be dropped off at your post safari accommodation or our lodge in Johannesburg.

Please note that we offer convenient pre and post tour lodge accommodation for before and after the Sabi Sand Game Reserve Safari, which can be added to your tour booking upon request. The 4 star lodge accommodation is located 10-15 minutes from the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and the rates include transfers between 08:00am and 8:00pm. The guest lodge rates also include breakfast.
