Have a look at what our travellers have to say about us.
Both safaris were very enjoyable with excellent wildlife viewing, visits to some spectacular dune fields (Sossuslvei) and Blyde River Canyon (S.Africa)
Roads in Namibia are mostly ungraded pebbly sand, ride in safari vehicle is quite jerky with frequent bumps. People with heart condition should seek medical advice before going on such a trip.
African Budget Safaris did a very efficient job in assisting with the right itineraries, reservation and mailing of all tour vouchers on time. From the time of arrival to departure following the tours, everything went like clock work without a hitch .I have no hesitation to go through African Budget Safaris for the next trip to Africa. I would rate this travel company as First Class. Ingrid is most helpful trip consultant.
I dont know what else to say: service was great. Harriet was responsive, prompt and very courteous. The itinerary was great and I truly enjoyed every day.
My daughter I and booked a short safari through African Budget Safari. Working with Harriet was a joy. The booking process was so easy and Harriet also set up some other tours for us as well. Everything went so smoothly and when we contacted Harriet she responded with 24 hours. I will use African Budget Safari. Thank you Harrie
I used African Budget Safari on my recent trip to Kruger National Park. The experience in the park was great, including the shuttle service to and from Jo'Burg, and I also saw the big 5 during my four day stay including 4 leopard sightings! I first contacted Ingrid who suggested the four day trip may be better than the three day trip. The customer service and follow up emails from Ingrid was great and very useful. The guides and other staff at the park were fantastic, along with the facilities. The meals were amazing, the wine flowed around the fire every night until midnight. There was also a great crew of visitors flowing in and out everyday making the experience pretty special. I would use African Budget Safari again!
The safari itself was a wonderful, well organized and managed experience. Unfortunwtely, the Tanzanian government, ss corrupt as they come, does zero to maintain toilet and shower facilities at camps provided. You have a choice between stinky and filthy sqatter toilets or stinky and filthy sitting toilets without seats. Showers barely sprinkle cold water only, and are equally filthy. Considering the vast revenue the government takes in for safaris, most of it just lines the pockets of officials.
Our experience with African Budget Safaris cannot be faulted. Everything Daniel did from our initial email contact right through to our departure was exceptional, including itinerary suggestions, responding to questions and facilitating all the bookings, support with EFT payments to pre-departure info. There were no hiccups - everything went so smoothly from go to woe. Everyone who was booked to meet us was there on the day, at the time, as arranged. We had no unfortunate incidents. We loved the safari in Sabi & Kruger. The staff were attentive and very professional, looking after our very need. The lodge was comfortable and we had great animal sightings in both Sabi & Kruger. Cape Town was terrific too. The weather was mixed but it didn't deter us from getting out & about. Namibia, it was one highlight after another. The experiences were all so diverse which was exciting. From Sossusvlei, the Skeleton Coast, Swakopmund to Etosha, we adored it all. Long driving days on dusty bumpy roads but it was still fascinating. Our guide was so delightful. Always organising things quietly in the background & consulting with us. A great people person with a sense of adventure and a wonderful sense of humour. We were blessed with meeting wonderful people the whole time.
Our sincere thanks to Daniel, it will be a trip to remember for a very long time!
I booked through African Budget Safaris with Rene- she was great from beginning to end. Everything was done through email and any time I asked a question, I got a prompt answer. She was very friendly when dealing with some of my seemingly silly questions which was helpful as well. Outlook lodge was wonderful (as was Francois!), our drivers through Spurwing were great (to and from Hippo Hollow and panoramic drive) and our guide during Safari, Gerald, was awesome. The service and dinner at Hippo Hollow was our only disappointment- not the greatest to say the least (especially since the Safari was the most expensive part of our trip), but the rooms and grounds were very nice. If I did it again, I may just choose a different lodge.
Booking our safari through African Budget Safari has been perfect from the start to the end.
We first selected an 11 days safari but had to cancel it because of family issues, which then was resolved so we wanted to rebook it again. At that point that tour was full, but Harriet at African Budget Safari was amazing in helping us find another similar trip, we ended up taking a 21 days safari instead and we did not regret that decision! Absolutely amazing!
This was my first review about South Africa trip. I dreamed of traveling in Safari since I was a child, and my dream came true. I looked forward to deal with the best agency. Firstly, I got some troubles about my plan and everything was solved by the staff's advice especially "Harriet" who helped me to manage a plan from the park to Johannesburg in order to catch the flight to Cape Town on time. I really impressed for your hospitality. I really want to get back and hope to meet The big 5 again.
I had joined 7 days Budget Namibia Highlights Lodge Safari on May 2017 through African Budget Safari. Ingrid has very helpful to select the suitable tour for us. She has good communication and provided the recommendations for our Africa trip. She has fast response for our questions. Finally, we got the good memories for our 1st Africa trip.
We have just completed a 10 day Okavango Delta/Botswana trip and couldnt be happier. Harriet answered all my questions promptly and efficiently and the booking process with African Budget Safaris was easy thru their website paying a deposit and balance 8 weeks beforehand. Their trip notes/explanation was detailed and a very true reflection of what to expect on the trip. The trip itself went smoothly with intrepid bundu. The tents were relatively new, foam mattress had just enough thickness for me but husband could've had a little thicker. The food was plentiful. We were expecting it to be much colder at night than it was but the days were very hot. Mosquitos weren't a problem either, even in the Delta. Remember to take a smaller bag when you go in mokoros as your big bag stays locked up in truck whilst on island for 2 nights. Some days had lots of driving with the first day 11 hours driving meeting at 4.45am! Most days we were on road by 7.30 am with tents packed, brekky had with washing up done so expect early starts most days. The first night of the tour is at Holiday Inn in Rosebank and was excellent as close to many eating places, hop on/hop off bus office and if coming from airport on gautrain it is literally 30 seconds walk from lift out of station!
Two girlfriends and myself engaged with African Budget Safaris to arrange an 8 day Vic Falls & Delta to Joburg Accommodated Overland Safari. From the emails to the special arrangements and extra requests, our consultant Bridget was excellent. The tour itself was contracted out to Nomad Tours which was a nightmare (I've reviewed them separately) but since they had no control over our unreliable guide from Nomads who did not meet us at the hotel, changed the itinerary and was downright unreliable, I won't hold it against African Budget Safaris for what was otherwise a good booking and planning experience.
African Budget Safaris made all of our safari dreams come true. Bronwyn was extremely helpful and responsive during the booking process, answering all our questions and working to find us the most convenient dates. The staff and accomodations at Outlook Lodge pre- and post-safari were great. And the four day Kruger treehouse safari was a truly outstanding experience, led by friendly, well-informed guides and made possible by gracious hosts at Tremisana Lodge and Matt's Treehouse Camp. We're so glad we found African Budget Safaris!
Did a lot of research to find the best tour in Botswana with African Budget Safari. The site is very user-friendly and has many tours to choose from. The safaris were very well priced and the lowest I had come across on the internet. The staff were very helpful and guided us along all the way to the end. The tour was incredible, top-notch! I recommend this company to anyone looking for a safari on a budget.
I started planning over 6 months in advance. Found best options by myself thru webpage and then it got even better as Claire looked after me, guided my choices and hooked my family up with the best Safari Tour possible. She answered, on average, a question each day from clothing to art to health suggestions. We ended up keeping an eleven year old, a 16 year old and two parents happy, well fed and satisfied with all our opportunities. Excellent from start to end.
Wow and again wow! Thank you for making my stay the most memorable at the Pilanesberg Natinal Park for my safari. I really enjoy my stay as i was well taking care of from the start by Tented Adventure. The guide was realky friendly and knowledgable about all the details with the animals. She went beyond expectations to make sure we got to see the Big Five. Cant wait to come back! Thank you again
What I didn't know when I used ABS is that they are just a booking agency - which worked out well for us being foreign travelers. They booked our safari and shark diving tour with ease and we didn't have to worry about the details. Definitely recommend.
We were looking at safari holidays but all seemed to be way out of our budget. After finding African budget safaris, I was excited at all of the different options you can choose from, with varying locations, durations and activities. I was a little nervous as we had never dealt with overseas payments before but after reading the great reviews on trip advisor, decided to book a 6 day treehouse safari near Kruger National Park. We dealt with Harriet at A.B.S's and she was most helpful. She answered all of our questions and was very patient with us. Harriet sent us the itinerary and a list of what to bring and we found that the whole safari went fantastic and was exactly what we expected... And more! I look forward to using them again and hope it's not too long before we can.
After being referred by my humanitarian travel agent, I emailed African Budget Safari, who were prompt and emailed me back with several different options within my price range and budget. It was operated by Viva safari, who was beyond organized, although travelers need to be flexible and realize they are in Africa! I picked the 6 day tent and treehouse package, which went to the following:
So Tremisana is on the Bulule Private Game
Reserve- this was amazing, the staff was friendly and funny. My favorite part was the sunset drive that ended in the dinner under the stars and amongst the active wildlife dinner! it was a perfect way to start the trip and I wasn't sure how anything else was going to top it! Eva was our first driver and she drives that vehicle like you stole it! So if your dainty or frail, be prepared, but for me, this is exactly what I was expecting! I have to take the time to say that the bush walk here was wonderful and educational! Marc's Treehouse is on Motlala Game Reserve- I stayed in treehouse number 1. I did hear that apparently there is more animal activity by the tents; however, I heard activity and as a solo traveler I wished I would have asked for someone to walk me to my treehouse at night, but the staff all reassured me it was completely safe. I awoke one morning after a walk to breakfast to see warthogs and giraffe! The food is great and Victor the front desk smiles from his soul! All of the guides and rangers were friendly and sociable. The AM bush walk or rather a stretch for your legs was nice, but definitely realize its a walk around the camp and can't compare to the other one.
My 6 day package came with 2 days in Kruger National Park and although 1 might have been sufficient, I was glad to have the 2. They were polar opposite in that the first drive was what I had expected weather wise, HOT and dusty from the dirt roads. The second was freezing cold and we stuck more to the paved roads. The rangers do a great job of talking to other rangers to do their best to see the BIG 5, but I would tell people don't let your trip be based on that or you may be disappointed. In particular, its hard to see Rhinos, Leopards and Big main Lion. in combination of my 2 days I saw all of them.
I loved the game drive on Tshukudu Game Reserve, as you can sometimes get more close to animals than you would expects.
Moholoholo Wildlife Rehab- I almost excluded this and am glad that I did not, it was great learning experience.
I recommend to anyone
We used African Budget Safari to book a tour with Acacia Africa for a tour from Johannesburg to Durban, SA. The tour itself was an incredible experience and we would recommend it to anyone. African Budget Safari also did a great job in facilitating the booking and providing us with any information we needed.
Until recently we had over 440 reviews on TripAdvisor. From 2013 to 2017 we earned five consecutive Certificates of Excellence. Unfortunately, as we are technically a tour agent - and in competition with TripAdvisor's own tour booking agent Viator - TripAdvisor decided, in early November 2017, to remove us from the site.
We still have all our reviews right here though, so go ahead and check them out.
