South Luangwa National Park Safari

A fantastic 4 day getaway from Lilongwe, Malawi to Zambia's premier Reserve - South Luangwa National Park.

The Luangwa Valley which is 9050 sq km of unspoiled woodland and riverine vegetation is home to over 40 mammal and 650 bird species.

You will go in search of the Parks wildlife in open sided 4x4 Game Viewing vehicles. Your accommodation for duration of your stay will be a lodge that is basic and functional. All chalets are en suite and there is a swimming pool for your use. Meals are prepared using provisions we have brought with us and there is a limited and basic bar.

Day 1: Lilongwe, Malawi to Luangwa Valley, Zambia

Meet at the tour office at 0830 in the morning. [A free collection service is offered to clients in Lilongwe]. Depart Lilongwe at approx 0900. Continue to Mchinji. [one and half hour drive] Here we complete immigration formalities and continue to Mwami - [the Zambian border]. From the border it is a short drive to Chipata - Zambia's capital of the Eastern Province.

Proceed on a dirt road to Luangwa Valley - Mfuwe sector. A picnic lunch is enjoyed en route and we arrive at the Lodge  in the mid afternoon. On arrival and after checking in, we enjoy tea and coffee along the rivers edge. Evening dinner.

Day 2 & 3: Luangwa Valley – Zambia

After an early morning wake up call, and a light breakfast of tea / coffee, cereal/porridge and toast with preserves, we head out for a 4 hr game drive. The aim is to be on the game drive by 06h15 am. Game drives are done in the camps open safari vehicles, to optimise your pleasure and experience. Drinks and snacks are taken along for your enjoyment whilst in the park. Depending on game sightings, we return to the camp at 11h00 for a scrumptious "brunch". We take an afternoon rest then we again head out for our afternoon drive at around 16h00 - returning at 20h00. In the evening we have dinner at the camp. Luangwa is renowned for the night game drives, which are included in your safari. - a powerful spotlight is used to spot nocturnal creatures that frequent this habitat.

Day 4: Luangwa Valley, Zambia to Lilongwe, Malawi

After a more leisurely start to the morning and a full breakfast, we pack up and depart back to Lilongwe. Departure time is at around 09h00. We enjoy a picnic lunch en route and arrive in the city at about 15h00. A free drop off service is offered in Lilongwe.
