Itinerary for this Tour

Day 1: Johannesburg to Sabi Sand Game Reserve - Greater Kruger Park

This budget Sabi Sands Safari begins in Johannesburg, the economic capital of South Africa. This morning you are collected from the OR Tambo International Airport at 07h00.

From bustling Johannesburg, the economic heart of South Africa, we drive northeast to the world-renowned Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Our journey takes us through the scenic Mpumalanga Province in a comfortable transfer vehicle with air-conditioning.

We arrive at our private Sabi Sands Lodge between 14h30 and 15h30 this afternoon. This luxury tented lodge is located inside Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which forms part of Greater Kruger Park. Take some time to settle in and relax at the private game lodge tucked away in the indigenous trees. Later in the afternoon, we set off on our first thrilling game drive in Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Sunset is the ideal time for game drives on African safaris. That's because the diurnal animals are more active in the evenings and the nocturnal animals begin to stir as darkness falls.

Our first exciting game drive ends back at the tented safari lodge inside Sabi Sands Game Reserve. End the day off with dinner and drinks around the campfire in the spacious open-air boma. Then, retreat to your luxury tented room for a peaceful night's sleep out in the African bush.

  • Meals included: Dinner
  • Accommodation: Standard Tent, Luxury Tent, or Superior Tented Suite (based on your choice)
  • Safari activities included: Sunset game drive in Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Please Note: The price of this Sabi Sands Safari varies depending on the tented accommodation you choose. Options include standard tents, a luxury tent, or a superior tented suite (see full tour pricing for details)

Day 2: Sabi Sands Game Reserve - Greater Kruger

Day two of our Sabi Sands Safari begins with an early cup of coffee or tea at the private game lodge. Sit back and enjoy a refreshing morning cuppa on the wooden deck, looking out over the African wilderness. Then, it is time for your first Big 5, morning game drive.

The lodge's friendly guides take you out into Sabi Sands Game Reserve in an open 4x4 safari vehicle. You'll be in excellent hands with these experienced and highly professional safari guides. As you explore the guides will share interesting facts and stories about the animals, birds, plants, and ecosystems of Greater Kruger.

Early mornings are an excellent time for game viewing because the animals are more active before the heat of the day sets in. The birds are also more active in the early morning hours so bring your binoculars and cameras. The bush is bathed in a warm glow which makes for beautiful photographs in the mornings.

After your rewarding morning game drive, your guides take you back to the Sabi Sands lodge for a scrumptious breakfast spread. Breakfast is followed by free time to enjoy the home comforts of the luxury tented lodge. Take a dip in the swimming pool. Curl up with a book in the comfortable lounge area of the main treehouse building. Retire to your air-conditioned luxury tent for a siesta, or sit on the deck and watch for wildlife and birds at the nearby waterholes and in the surrounding bush.

Later this afternoon your guides take you on a sunset game drive in Sabi Sands Game Reserve. These game drives are usually conducted in the southern part of Sabi Sands, known for its excellent wildlife sightings at close range. This renowned private game reserve in Greater Kruger is home to healthy populations of Africa's Big 5 animals. Sabi Sands Game Reserve is famous for its excellent leopard sightings in particular.

During your sunset game drive, you'll stop in a scenic spot for sundowners in the middle of the bush. The experienced guides on this Sabi Sands Safari readily share their in-depth knowledge with you and are happy to answer questions.

Back at the tented safari lodge, we enjoy dinner and drinks around the open-air campfire, spending another evening under starry African skies. At the end of the day, retire to your comfortable tented suite and fall asleep to the sounds of nature.

  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After our last exhilarating game drive, we return to the exclusive Sabi Sands lodge. Then we tuck into a tasty breakfast before packing up to leave the private game lodge. The shuttle will collect you at about 10h00.
