Your 7-Day Private Sani Pass, Lesotho & Drakensberg Tour departs Johannesburg with an early morning flight to Pietermaritzburg’s Oribi Airport, where your guide collects you for the transfer to the town of Underberg in the Drakensberg foothills (Maloti Mountains in Lesotho). Continue to the legendary Sani Pass and begin your ascent into the mountains, crossing into Lesotho and stopping for tea along the way to enjoy panoramic views of the dramatic mountain scenery. Visit a traditional shepherd’s village to learn about local bread baking and authentic Lesotho mountain life. Cross Black Mountain, the highest point on the Sani Pass route, and continue to a remote rural village where you meet a traditional healer and observe cultural dances and rituals of the Basotho people.
Continue across the “Roof of Africa,” making regular photo stops, passing Afriski mountain resort and the Letseng Diamond Mine, before stopping for a late lunch at Oxbow Lodge.
