This short Private Namibia Safari to Etosha & Swakopmund offers excellent value and extra comfort.
On the first morning of this short Private Namibia Safari, you are collected from your pre-tour accommodation in Windhoek. Leaving the capital of Namibia your trained safari guide drives you north to Etosha National Park.
This afternoon we embark on an exhilarating 4x4 game drive in Etosha. Your experienced guide takes you in search of the abundant wildlife and birds of Etosha, Namibia's top safari park. Along the way, you'll stop at waterholes where wildlife congregates and find out all about the animals and habitats of Etosha from your private guide. Etosha is home to plenty of large mammals, including four of the Big Five - lion, leopard, rhino, and elephant.
Our game drive ends at one of the rest camps inside Etosha where we spend the night. Tonight we enjoy a traditional braai (barbecue) around the campfire and head to the floodlit waterhole at camp to watch nocturnal wildlife.
Please note: We will only have a barbecue (braai) when staying at Okaukuejo or Halali.
Wake up with the birds early this morning for a full day of game viewing in Etosha Park. Etosha is rated as one of the best national parks in Africa. At about 22 270 km² Etosha is a vast wilderness area inhabited by over 340 bird species and numerous wild animals. It hosts high concentrations of large predators and prey, resulting in exciting wildlife sightings. Scan the bush for white and black rhinos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and numerous kinds of antelope such as oryx, Damara dik-dik, and black-faced impala.
Today we drive along the southern fringes of the massive Etosha Pan, the huge salt pan that covers much of the national park. Etosha means 'Great White Place' - an apt description of this flat, pale landscape. During the heat of the day, we'll take a break at one of the rest camps and have lunch (own account). After lunch and a rest, we'll continue exploring wildlife-rich Etosha. Before sunset, we exit the park and make our way to our overnight lodge just outside the national park. Sit back and relax at the end of an action-packed day on safari in Etosha National Park.
On day three we get up early for our long journey to Swakopmund on the coast of Namibia. Our drive takes us through the strange and remote landscapes of the Kunene Region and the former Damaraland area. Look out for Brandberg, the tallest mountain in Namibia, as we make our way to Swakopmund.
We arrive in Swakopmund this afternoon with the remainder of the day left free for you to rest or explore. Swakopmund town is Namibia's top seaside holiday destination imbued with a German-colonial charm. The town is easy to explore on foot so you can walk along the promenade or jetty, or browse quaint shops and visit some sights. Tonight we eat out (own expense) at one of the excellent restaurants in town.
This morning you can join one of the many thrilling optional activities available in Swakopmund or head out and explore the town. Alternatively, your guide can take you to Walvis Bay Lagoon to see the multitude of waterbirds found in this important wetland area. Huge flamingo flocks can often be seen at the lagoon so keep your cameras ready.
Swakopmund is called the Adventure Capital of Namibia given the range of exciting activities on offer in and around the town. Optional activities range from skydiving and sandboarding in the dunes to desert tours and dolphin cruises in Walvis Bay. In Swakopmund town, attractions include colonial-German buildings, museums, an aquarium, and a craft market selling wood carvings, fabrics, and other African curios.
Later today we drive back to Windhoek via Okahandja where we can visit the Woodcarving Market. Arriving in Windhoek your guide drops you at your post-tour accommodation or the airport, concluding our affordable Swakopmund & Etosha Safari.
