This affordable yet luxurious 10-day Kenya Safari starts with two nights in the vibrant capital of Nairobi. Then we head north to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to East Africa's largest black rhino population and the only place in Kenya where you can see chimpanzees. From there we visit the beautiful Great Rift Valley lakes of Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru National Park to soak up the scenery, encounter wildlife, and spot birds. Last, but not least, we travel to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, for epic game viewing in one of Africa's finest wildlife parks.
An excellently-priced luxury Kenya Safari combining Masai Mara with spectacular scenery and diverse game-viewing adventures.
Your unforgettable Kenya Safari experience starts in the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi. When you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport your driver will be waiting to take you to your luxury hotel in Nairobi. Once you’ve settled in at your accommodation, you can go see the sights of Nairobi and sample the local cuisine at one of the city’s many restaurants or have dinner at the hotel (own account).
Indulge in a delicious breakfast at the hotel before setting off on a sightseeing tour of Nairobi. Kenya's capital offers many safari highlights, including a chance to feed giraffes at the Nairobi Giraffe Center and see rescued baby elephants up close at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.
Take a break with an escape to the beautiful Tamarind Brasserie garden restaurant for lunch. Enjoy the unique experience of the Tamarind’s menu which includes seafood, barbecue, and African meals. After exploring the attractions of Nairobi, it’s back to the hotel to freshen up before our celebratory welcome dinner.
Day three of your Kenya Safari starts with an early breakfast before driving north to Nanyuki and on to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Here we check into a luxurious tented camp overlooking scenic landscapes with Mount Kenya in the distance.
This comfortable camp is located inside Ol Pejeta Conservancy, which hosts the Big 5 of Africa. Enjoy a drink in the bar, built in the style of a game-viewing hide, while watching for wildlife at the busy waterhole offering excellent game viewing. Then head to the central restaurant and tuck into your choice of regional or international cuisine. After dinner, relax in the lounge or bar area which features a cosy log fire for chilly evenings. At the end of the day retire to your spacious en-suite tented suite with its own private veranda.
Spend day four on safari in Kenya exploring the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and the only place where you can see chimpanzees in Kenya. It is also home to two of the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos.
Go on a game drive to visit the local rehabilitation centre and see animals rescued from the black market. From a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya to a trailblazer of conservation, the story of Ol Pejeta is inspirational.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy has some of the highest predator densities in Kenya and still manages a successful livestock program. It also supports the people living around its borders to ensure wildlife conservation translates to better education, healthcare, and infrastructure for the next generation of wildlife guardians.
The fifth day of your Kenya Safari starts with breakfast before we drive south to Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch at our lakeside lodge.
Lake Naivasha is a scenic freshwater lake with the highest elevation of the Great Rift Valley lakes of Kenya and Tanzania. It is known for its prolific birdlife (especially waterbirds) and submerged volcanic island, called Crescent Island.
This afternoon you can relax at the lodge, or embark on a boat ride to Crescent Island. The lodge is set on a lush 120-acre lakeside property where birds, monkeys, and other animals can be spotted. The jetty at the lodge offers sweeping views of Lake Naivasha with Mount Longonot towering above as well as the Mau Escarpment and distant Aberdares mountains. Both the island and the unspoiled shores of Lake Naivasha are well worth exploring on foot.
Wake up to a delicious breakfast before heading to Lake Nakuru National Park for a morning game drive. This compact Kenyan national park is one of the best places to see rhinos, leopards, and Rothschild's giraffes. It hosts an abundance of wildlife with common sightings including buffalos, lions, black and white rhinos, gazelles, zebras, elands, monkeys, baboons, waterbuck, and even African wild dogs. Although the number of flamingos has dwindled over the years, the lake still attracts plenty of birds like the pelicans.
After our close-up wildlife encounters in Lake Nakuru National Park, we pause for lunch - either a picnic or lunch at a Lake Nakuru lodge.
Then we make our way back to Lake Naivasha. On arrival, a boat will take you to Crescent Island for a guided safari walk. The island is a birder's paradise with bird sightings including pelicans, herons, cormorants, ospreys, black crakes, cranes, fish eagles, and more. You may also encounter various animals on the guided walk such as zebras, giraffes, elands, wildebeests, and other antelopes.
After breakfast at our Lake Naivasha lodge, we hit the road for the famous Masai Mara National Reserve - the highlight of our Kenya Safari!
We head to our tented camp below the Oldonyo Loip Ridge overlooking the grasslands of Maasai Mara. Settle in and enjoy lunch at the luxury camp keeping an eye out for herds of zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and other animals on the savannahs. The ridge above the camp is home to big cats and serves as an important wildlife migration corridor.
This afternoon we embark on our first thrilling game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve. One of Africa's best safari destinations, Masa Mara is world-renowned for the Great Migration. This annual wildlife migration takes place between Masai Mara and Serengeti National Park and entails up to 2 million migrating wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles with predators in tow. If the migration is passing through Masai Mara when you visit, you may get to see one of the most spectacular wildlife shows on earth.
The game viewing in Masai Mara is, however, outstanding year-round. Soak up the ultimate African safari setting of open plains, winding rivers, and towering escarpments teeming with wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for the Big 5 of Africa, along with cheetahs, hyenas, and herbivores galore.
After our rewarding game drive in Masai Mara, we return to our safari camp, where you can sit back and enjoy a sundowner on your private veranda or at the main lodge before tucking into dinner.
Spend two full days on safari in the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve embarking on morning and afternoon 4x4 game drives. In between your Masai Mara safari adventures, enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the camp.
Masai Mara hosts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, offering unparalleled game viewing in the pristine wilderness. The reserve is famous for its high density of predators, especially large cats (lions, cheetahs, and leopards). You are almost sure to see lions, leopards, buffalos, and elephants on our game drives, and with luck even black rhinos. Look forward to unforgettable game drives in this beautiful wildlife park over the next two days!
The final morning of our Kenya Safari begins with breakfast at the tented safari camp before we pack up and depart on a final morning game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy your last chance to soak it all in and spot African wildlife roaming free.
Leaving the magical Masai Mara behind we drive back to Nairobi. Alternatively, you can fly from Masai Mara back to Nairobi (at an additional cost) at the end of this safari. For pricing details please check the full pricing information.
Depending on your international departure flight, you can have one last dinner out in Nairobi before our driver takes you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
Please note that the Wildebeest Great Migration is seasonal. As a natural wildlife phenomenon, it is fluid and unpredictable. For this reason, seeing the Great Migration cannot be guaranteed.
The wildebeest and other wild herbivores migrate between Masai Mara in Kenya and Serengeti in Tanzania. These herds move in a massive circular route covering some 1200 miles (1931km). It is a continuous movement of wildlife that can be seen in different areas at different times of the year. During certain phases of this annual trek the animals disperse or slow down, whilst at other times the migration picks up speed, with the herds becoming larger and denser. Not only does the Wildebeest Great Migration vary from place to place and season to season but the movement of these large wildlife herds varies from year to year.
