Itinerary for this Tour

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara - Kenya

Departing from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, we drive down the escarpment via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley. We arrive at our overnight camp, located on the border of Masai Mara, in time for lunch.

This afternoon we explore Masai Mara on our first game drive, getting a taste of what this legendary game park has to offer!

We stay in luxury safari tents overlooking the untamed savannah plains and woodlands of Masai Mara. At night you can hear a chorus of different animal sounds as the creatures of the wild communicate with each other in the darkness - more than enough reason to visit.

Day 2 & 3: Masai Mara Game Reserve - Kenya

The next two days are spent game viewing in Kenya's finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Our morning and afternoon game drives take us in search of Africa's Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Masai Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunsets well-worth capturing on camera. The Masai Mara Game Reserve is 1510km² of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife.

Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see an abundance of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common.

The ultimate action here is without doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October.

Hot-air balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost.

We overnight at the same luxury tented camp near Masai Mara on day two and three.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Nairobi - Kenya

We depart from our safari camp and take a morning game drive through the Masai Mara Reserve on day four.

Then we return to bustling Nairobi, arriving at about 14:00 in the afternoon. This unforgettable 4-Day Budget Masai Mara Camping Safari ends upon arrival back in Nairobi.

Masai Mara Tour Accommodation
