A fantastic 4-day Budget Safari to Kenya's premier game reserve - the Masai Mara.
This Masai Mara Safari departs from Nairobi, Kenya where you will proceed via the Great Rift Valley with its spectacular views and onwards to the beautiful Masai Mara Reserve.
Spend your days in the vast Masai Mara Park in search of the abundance of wildlife. Masai Mara is especially well-known for its large cat population and is home to the annual Wildebeest Migration, a wildlife epic like none other on earth.
The unforgettable Masai Mara Safari ends back in Nairobi.
Departing from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, we drive down the escarpment via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley. We arrive at our overnight camp, located in a private conservancy near Masai Mara, in time for lunch.
This afternoon we explore Masai Mara on our first game drive, getting a taste of what this legendary game park has to offer!
We stay in luxury safari tents overlooking scenic hills, a river and the surrounding wilderness of southern Kenya. At night you may hear the sounds of wildlife drawn to the river or roaming in the conservancy.
The next two days are spent game viewing in Kenya's finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Our morning and afternoon game drives take us in search of Africa's Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Masai Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunsets well-worth capturing on camera. The Masai Mara Game Reserve is 1510km² of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is classical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife.
Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see an abundance of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the wild plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common.
The ultimate action here is, without doubt, the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October.
Hot-air balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost.
We overnight at the same luxury tented camp near Masai Mara on day two and three.
We depart from our safari camp and take a morning game drive through the Masai Mara Reserve on day four.
Then we return to bustling Nairobi, arriving at about 14:00 in the afternoon. This unforgettable 4-Day Budget Masai Mara Camping Safari ends upon arrival back in Nairobi.
