Your Eswatini Cultural Safari begins with a scheduled transfer from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport to White River in Mpumalanga. On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to Muluwa Lodge, located within the Likweti Bushveld Estate near Hazyview.
After check-in, spend the afternoon relaxing in your luxury safari tent and enjoying the peaceful bush setting. Plains game such as zebra and antelope are sometimes seen on the estate. Dinner is served at the lodge as you meet your fellow travellers and prepare for the journey ahead.
After breakfast, depart Muluwa Lodge and travel south toward the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). Crossing the border at Jeppe’s Reef or Oshoek (depending on conditions), you’ll enter one of Southern Africa’s most scenic and culturally rich countries.
After completing border formalities, continue through Eswatini’s mountain landscapes, rural villages, and traditional homesteads. This journey offers a fascinating introduction to Eswatini’s natural beauty and rich African cultural heritage. Arrive at your lodge in Eswatini in the late afternoon, with time to relax before dinner.
Today is dedicated to exploring Eswatini’s cultural heritage and natural landscapes. Visit Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the country’s best-known protected areas, home to zebra, wildebeest, antelope, warthog, and abundant birdlife.
You’ll also visit the Nsangwini Rock Art site, where ancient San paintings provide insight into the lives of the region’s earliest inhabitants. These remarkable artworks form part of a wider tradition of San rock art in Southern Africa, offering a fascinating glimpse into early human history.
After breakfast, begin your return journey to South Africa, travelling through Eswatini’s scenic mountain regions before crossing the border.
Arrive back at Muluwa Lodge around midday. The afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the lodge’s facilities, including the swimming pool, spa, and peaceful bush surroundings. Dinner is served at the lodge.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to White River for your scheduled return transfer to Johannesburg, arriving at OR Tambo International Airport in the late afternoon, where your Eswatini safari ends.
