Arriving at Ivato Airport you are transferred to your first overnight hotel in Antananarivo, where you can unwind and take a refreshing swim.
Depending on your arrival time in Antananarivo, there may be time for a tour of the local crafts market (extra cost), which can be arranged at the hotel. Alternatively, you can explore the city at your leisure, taking a stroll to Anosy lake and the Queen's Palace or visiting museums and other interesting sights.
After a quick breakfast, you will be transferred back to Ivato Airport for your flight to St Marie Island. Also known as Nosy Boraha, Ile Sainte Marie lies off the north-eastern coast of Madagascar.
When you arrive on Sainte Marie Island, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your 4-star hotel. With its private stretch of beach and sparkling swimming pool, this comfortable hotel offers a luxurious retreat on the idyllic island of St Marie. Be sure to visit the pirates’ cemetery at Saint-Pierre to journey back in time. Then, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can visit the local market held in the small town of Ambodifotatra.
During the whale season (July to September) on St Marie Island, you can join the CETA researchers on boat trips to collect marine data for whale conservation and watch the video footage in the evenings.
After a leisurely breakfast at your beach hotel, you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo, on mainland Madagascar.
