Our team has the destination knowledge to help you plan an unforgettable African adventure. We're based in Cape Town and ready to help.
We can also plan you an affordable private group or tailor-made tour. We built our business on turning luxury travel into affordable travel.
Mozambique is less modernized than most Southern African countries, such as South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Travelling to Mozambique is thus a less westernized experience with more rudimentary amenities and fewer conveniences outside of the luxury resorts. For many travellers, it is a totally new experience - a real adventure.
A sought-after beach holiday destination, Mozambique is best known for its stunning beaches, warm Indian Ocean waters, idyllic tropical islands and large marine animals (turtles, dolphins, whales, manta rays and whale sharks). Inhambane and Tofo are amongst the best beach getaways in the country, especially for water sports and marine life.
About Inhambane & Tofo Tours
Our Mozambique Tours all visit Inhambane and Tofo in the Inhambane Province. Inhambane is a historic seaside city where colonial Portuguese influences linger from the early 1500s when Vasco da Gama landed here. Nearby Tofo is the snorkelling and scuba diving capital of Mozambique, famous for its large whale shark and manta ray populations. Both Praia do Tofo and Inhambane have craft markets and beautiful coastlines with sandy beaches making them popular travel destinations.
Our shortest Budget Mozambique Tour is one-week long, starting and ending in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. This Accommodated Overland Tour of Mozambique travels to Bazaruto Islands and Vilanculos, in addition to Tofo Beach and Inhambane. This short Mozambique Tour is perfect for beach lovers, marine enthusiasts and water babies.
Most of the budget tours incorporating Tofo and Inhambane, are two-weeks long and start and end in the South African city of Johannesburg. All of our trips of about 14-days also travel to Kruger National Park, South Africa's top safari destination. These affordable Overland Tours typically combine Mozambique, South Africa and Swaziland with highlights including Hlane Royal National Park, Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve or Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Alternative routes for trips about two-weeks long include travelling from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to Pretoria in South Africa, or from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls. These tours include top attractions in Zimbabwe, such as Matobo National Park, the Great Zimbabwe Ruins and Hwange National Park.
Three-week tours to Mozambique either start in Livingstone at Victoria Falls in Zambia or Johannesburg, ending in Johannesburg either way. The 22-day tour from Livingstone takes in the Zambian safari highlights of Kafue National Park and South Luangwa National Park, along with Lake Malawi, in addition to Kruger Park (South Africa) and Tofo, Inhambane and Bazaruto Islands (Mozambique). One of the longest trip options is an Exclusive Overland Tour 24-days long. On this budget tour, you also visit Kafue and South Luangwa in Zambia, adding top Zimbabwean destinations such as Matobo, Victoria Falls and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins to your journey, as well as Chobe Park in Botswana.
Most of our Mozambique trips are Overland Tours, including camping, exclusive small group and accommodated safaris. The Mozambique Overland Tours are typically part of longer itineraries visiting multiple countries in Southern Africa. Thus you get to experience the comforts of neighbouring countries where the tourism industries are well established along with the novelty of Mozambique's less "tame" places and less westernized society. Mozambique overland tours are ideal for showing you the beautiful landscapes and rural life of the country.
All of our Africa tours travel overland allowing you to get closer to the places we visit and the people we encounter along the way, including the lodge tours.
Budget Lodge Tours of Mozambique give you a bit more comfort whilst you experience the rustic charm of this more 'African' country in a small group of up to 12 travellers. Budget Lodge Tous to Mozambique travel by small overland vehicle or a combination of microbus and game viewing vehicles in the national parks. Our Exclusive Budget Safaris also travel by small overland truck in small groups of 12 guests max, using 4x4 safari vehicles for game drives. Accommodation is a mix of camping and lodge or guesthouse accommodation on Exclusive Budget Safaris, with more nights spent camping. Exclusive Overland Tours, on the other hand, cater for groups of up to 17 travellers, staying in basic but comfortable accommodation on most nights along the way.
On the Africa Overland Tours (camping and accommodated) groups of 20 to 24 travellers travel together in a medium or large overland truck, depending on the trip. These are the most budget-friendly tour options, well-suited to adventurous spirits. Some participation is required on the Overland Tours, especially the Overland Camping Tours, as most meals are prepared and served in camp and at the overland vehicle. Africa Overland Travel is most popular with younger travellers (in their 20s and 30s), but people of all ages are welcome. Travellers all need to be relatively active and willing to contribute to the success of the journey in order to enjoy the social and interactive mode of travel that is overlanding.
