The 3-day Etosha Budget Lodge Safari visits Namibia's top game reserve, Etosha National Park, on an affordable but comfortable and short wildlife safari.
The trip takes you on game viewing drives in Etosha and offers excellent opportunities for sighting the nocturnal animals that visit the floodlit waterholes at both Okaukuejo and Halali camp. The comfortable accommodation on this trip will be at either Okaukuejo or Halali camp in Etosha Park.
The Etosha Budget Lodge Safari departs from Windhoek at 08h30am, from where we head to the famous Etosha National Park, in northwestern Namibia.
We spend two nights in Etosha at either Okaukuejo or Halali camp, depending on animal movements. Both of these rest camps offer tourist facilities, including a restaurant, a basic shop and a swimming pool. The camps also feature waterholes that are floodlit, offering 24-hour game viewing. Elephant and black rhinoceros visit the waterholes on a daily basis in the dry winter season, with a variety of other wild animals, such as leopard and lion, also frequenting these watering spots.
Etosha National Park, one of Africa's top game reserves, is dominated by a vast salt pan. Etosha Park is named after this dry lakebed, with the name meaning 'great white place of dry water'. Etosha is home to 340 bird species and over 100 mammal species, notably the endangered cheetah and black rhino, as well as black-faced impala, tsessebe, roan antelope and gemsbok.
Comfortable Accommodation in Etosha at Okaukuejo or Halali (Meals Included: Lunch and Dinner)
We venture into this 22 270 sq km game reserve on an early morning and a late afternoon game drive, taking in the wide-open expanse of the Etosha Pan. The flat green surface of this dry lakebed stretches out under the hot African sun, offering spectacular stark scenery and glimpses of ostriches amongst the shimmering mirages. In the afternoon we return to our rest camp and relax at the swimming pool or watch wild animals drinking at the waterhole.
Comfortable Hotel, Lodge or Guest House in Etosha (Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After an early morning game drive in Etosha, we make our way back to Windhoek. The Etosha Budget Lodge Safari ends in Windhoek on day three.
