Day 1 to 3: Maun to Mogogelo Camp - Botswana

Our Botswana Safari begins in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. You will be met at Maun Airport, where a light aircraft will transfer you to Mogogelo Camp, lying on the southern border of the Moremi Game Reserve. This flight offers a fantastic aerial perspective of the layout of the Moremi portion of the Okavango Delta.

On arrival at Mogogelo Camp, settle in and enjoy a delicious Lunch/High Tea at camp before heading out on an afternoon game drive for a first introduction to this fascinating area. The camp is located on the delta’s seasonal floodplains, in a private concession on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta. Discover the unique landscape on twice daily game drives, which depart at sunrise and again in the late afternoon to overlap with sunset. Exploring is done by game drive under the expert lead of local Motswana guides. We travel on an open 4x4 safari vehicle which offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscape and the animals you encounter. Get up close with elephants, buffalos, lions, and a host of other creatures. Experience the tradition of having sundowners - at a scenic spot in the bush mid-game drive - an iconic element of any safari in southern Africa!

Afternoon game drives become night drives after the sun sets, bringing the nocturnal creatures to the spotlight. Leopards and lions are more active at night, while nocturnal creatures like civets, porcupines, honey badgers, and jackals are likely to be seen. During the dry season, walking safaris are a possibility for those who’d like to explore on foot. Between game drives, you are at leisure to relax at camp, take a dip in the swimming pool, have a drink at the bar, or simply enjoy the solitude of the bush from your private deck.

  • Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner x3
  • Activities included: 2 Game Drives per day in the private concession
  • Optional activities (own expense): Night Drives, Mokoro day trip

Enjoy an authentic Botswana safari experience in the shared, thatched dining area which houses a bar, outdoor lounge, and swimming pool, with a traditional fire pit extending towards the waterhole.

10 luxury tents with decks overlook an open plain and permanent waterhole, wandering game offering an opportunity to watch wildlife from the comfort of all areas of camp. For a unique and tranquil experience, our dedicated Mokoro station provides day trips to explore the peaceful waters of the Okavango Delta.

Day 4 to 7: Mogogelo Camp to Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge - Botswana

On day 4 of our Botswana Safari, after a final morning activity followed by a hearty breakfast, it is time to bid farewell to Mogogelo Camp. A light aircraft will transfer you to your next destination, Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge in north-eastern Botswana, close to the Zimbabwe border. It is conveniently located to explore the surrounding areas such as a game drive in the famous Chobe National Park, a game viewing cruise on the Chobe River, or a visit to one of the world’s great natural wonders: Victoria Falls.

Settle into Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge, refresh with some lunch, then embark on an afternoon game drive to explore the terrain.

The lodge lies near the center of the newly formed Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) which aims to promote migration and protect an area larger than Germany/Austria combined, nearly twice as large as the United Kingdom. It includes the vast river basins of both the Kavango and Zambezi rivers and sees 5 countries converge: Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It is where seasonal waters flow from the uplands, spilling out in a delta onto desert sands. A truly unique landscape. The sheer scale of KAZA provides habitats from grassland, wetland, dry forest, and a variety of woodland types, to saltpans and scrublands. The protection of this vast area enables the large-scale seasonal migrations of giant herds of elephants, antelopes, wildebeest, and buffalo.

Early morning and afternoon 4x4 safari game drives from Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge take us into the forest reserves which lie alongside the legendary Kuzuma Pans, a series of pans stretching from Botswana into Zimbabwe which swell with water in the rainy season. Many of the pans are filled with borehole water during the dry season, attracting great numbers of migrating wildlife. It lies on a busy elephant corridor, and you can also expect to see herds of wildebeest and buffalo, roan antelope, rare sable, giraffe, lion, and leopard. The Oribi, a small antelope, is endemic. Wild dogs and cheetahs can also be observed around the pans as this is ideal hunting terrain for them. The waters attract many birds making it a bird-watching paradise boasting over 380 species including waterbirds storks, crowned cranes, stilts, cormorants, ducks, and kingfishers.

Your days are yours to spend as you decide. Head out before dawn for an early game drive before returning to camp for a hearty breakfast. Relax by the pool, then later head out on your next game drive, or choose to visit a nearby village or learn more about the community uplift and agriculture projects which are supported in the area. You may prefer to book a day trip (own expense) to explore the surrounding attractions such as the famous Chobe National Park, Chobe River cruise or visit mighty Victoria Falls.

  • Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner x4
  • Activities included: Game drives, cultural village tours, agri-tourism experience
  • Optional activities (own expense): Chobe National Park Day trip, Victoria Falls Day Trip, Hwange Day trip
