This special has run since Monday, 01 Nov 2021 and ends Thursday, 31 Dec 2026
In the morning, our Cape Town tour guide collects you from your accommodation in the city.
This guided Cape Peninsula Tour starts with a scenic drive along the vibrant Atlantic Seaboard. See the famous beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay as you drive along the winding coastal road at the foot of the Twelve Apostles mountains. Drive through Camps Bay, to check out the trendy bars, restaurants, and hotels in this trendy beachfront area.
From there we drive to the quaint fishing village of Hout Bay via stunning seaside cliffs. Locals often call this suburb of Cape Town the 'Republic of Hout Bay' because it feels like an independent town. The village-like suburb is known for its pretty beach, fresh seafood, and lively market.
In Hout Bay, you have the option of taking a ferry to see the thousands of seals that inhabit Seal Island (own expense). Then we make our way from Hout Bay to Noordhoek via one of the most beautiful roads in South Africa, the famous Chapman's Peak Drive. Nicknamed Chappies, this world-renowned coastal drive offers breathtaking scenery. We wind our way along this incredible 9km stretch of road with 114 curves that hug the sheer seaside cliffs. En route, we stop at viewpoints to admire and photograph the spectacular views and look for whales and dolphins in the ocean below.
From Chapman's Peak, we head into the wild Cape Point Nature Reserve. This rugged nature reserve, located on the tip of the Cape Peninsula, is a must-see Cape Town attraction. Your tour guide takes you on an exploration of Cape Point, showing you the famous landmarks and features of this unique place. As you drive through the nature reserve your tour guide can tell you all about the unique animal and plant species found here, including the indigenous fynbos vegetation. Cape Point hosts over 250 bird species, baboons, antelopes, and the Cape Mountain Zebra, so keep your eyes open.
One of your stops is at the Cape of Good Hope, the most south-westerly point of Africa. Here you'll see two monuments in honour of the famous explorers, Vasco da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias, who discovered Cape Point in 1488. Explore the area around the Cape of Good Hope on foot and take some photos of the dramatic coastal cliffs and landmarks. Visit the lighthouse and admire the rocky coast and open landscapes of Cape Point.
Leaving Cape Point we drive to Boulders Beach in Simon's Town. Here you can see the famous Jackass penguin colony of Cape Town. Watch them from a distance and stroll along the coast or head into the protected area at a small fee (own expense). In the reserve, you can spend some time watching these peculiar penguins up close and even take a chilly swim with them. After observing the penguin colony we drive through the historical suburb of Simon's Town where the SA navy is based. Keep an eye out for the frigates and submarines docked in the harbour below, as well as the old colonial architecture of Simon's Town.
Then we continue along the coastal road keeping a lookout for whales in False Bay, during whale season (June to November). Next, we visit the charming seaside village of Kalk Bay. Once a small fishing village, today Kalk Bay is a favourite tourist hotspot for locals and visitors alike. We pause for a light lunch and stroll around the quaint cobbled streets of Kalk Bay, set on the hillside between the craggy mountains and open sea. The main road is lined with quirky shops selling unique antiques, costumes, artworks, books, clothes, and more, as well as delightful ice-cream and coffee shops, and excellent restaurants. After Kalk Bay, we swing by bustling Muizenberg to lay eyes on this famous surfing hotspot and its melting pot of locals and visitors.
Leaving the coast of False Bay behind we head inland towards the leafy southern suburbs of Cape Town. A leisurely drive brings you back to the city where your guide drops you off at your Cape Town accommodation at about 18h00.
Please note that the order of the Cape Peninsula Tour activities may change due to weather conditions.
