Quick Itinerary Overview

A Tanzania fly-in migration safari offering you the very best of Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit. From Arusua, visit the iconic baobab-dotted landscapes of Tarangire National Park, before continuing to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater. This vast volcanic amphitheatre is one of East Africa’s top locations for spotting the Big Five, including rare black rhino. Fly into the remote northern Serengeti, where three nights at a luxury tented camp place you right at the heart of the Great Migration drama. From July to October, this region becomes the stage for one of nature’s most breathtaking events: thousands of wildebeest and zebra braving the crocodile-filled Mara River on their migration route.

This private fly-in safari offers prime wildlife viewing, intimate accommodations, and the opportunity to witness one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles up close. Note: This is a seasonal package from July to the end of October 2026

Wildebeest Great Migration Explained

Please note that the Wildebeest Great Migration is a seasonal event. As a natural wildlife phenomenon, it is fluid and unpredictable. For this reason, seeing the Great Migration cannot be guaranteed.
The wildebeest and other wild herbivores migrate between the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti in Tanzania. These herds move in a massive circular route covering approximately 1,200 miles (1,931 km). It is a continuous movement of wildlife that can be seen in different areas at different times of the year.
During certain phases of this annual trek, the animals disperse or slow down, whilst at other times the migration picks up speed, with the herds becoming larger and denser. Not only does the Wildebeest Great Migration vary from place to place and season to season, but the movement of these large wildlife herds also varies from year to year.
Please speak with a travel expert at African Budget Safaris to learn more about witnessing the Great Migration during your East African safari. Also, check out our detailed article about the Great Migration in the Serengeti and Masai Mara.
