Day 1: Livingstone - Zambia

Your 15- day Victoria Falls, Botswana and South Africa Overland Safari begins in the riverside town of Livingstone in Zambia. Arrive at either Livingstone or Victoria Falls Airport and make your own way to The Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge (transfers are available at an additional cost), where you'll meet your guide and fellow travellers.

Nestled along the banks of the Zambezi River, your lodge provides a peaceful retreat for the next three nights. Livingstone is an ideal base for exploring the region, combining easy access to the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls with exciting wildlife experiences, scenic river cruises and optional adventure activities. Rich in local character and offering a more relaxed atmosphere than the neighbouring resort town, it is the perfect place to start your journey.

After settling into your room, join the group for a welcome dinner and get to know your travelling companions before the overland adventure begins.

Day 2: Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park - Zambia

After breakfast, set off for a morning safari in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Keep an eye out for the park's wildlife before enjoying the unforgettable experience of tracking endangered white rhinos on foot with an experienced guide. This close encounter offers a rare insight into one of Africa's most remarkable conservation success stories.

Following a picnic lunch, return to the lodge for some time to relax before boarding a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. As the day draws to a close, admire the river's tranquil beauty and watch for wildlife gathering along the banks. Drinks are available for purchase on board.

Dinner is at your leisure this evening and can be enjoyed at the lodge restaurant or a nearby restaurant (own expense)

Day 3: Victoria Falls - Zambia

Enjoy breakfast, then set off to discover one of Africa's greatest natural wonders on a guided visit to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya – "The Smoke That Thunders." Wander the rainforest trails, take in the breathtaking viewpoints, and experience the power of the cascading water up close.

The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Spend more time exploring the falls, cross into Zimbabwe for alternative viewpoints (a multiple-entry visa is required), or choose from a variety of optional adventure activities available in either country. You may also wish to visit Livingstone's local markets and craft stalls to experience the town's vibrant culture.

This evening, you'll be transferred to a local restaurant in Livingstone for dinner (own expense) before returning to the lodge.

Day 4: Livingstone to Kasane - Botswana

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning in Livingstone before travelling to Botswana with your local guide. The journey includes crossing the striking Kazungula Bridge, which spans the Zambezi River and links Zambia with Botswana. This remarkable crossing passes through the famous Kazungula Quadripoint, where the borders of Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe come remarkably close together. Often referred to as the "Four Corners of Africa," it is one of the continent's most unique geographical landmarks.

On arrival in Kasane, settle into Thebe River Safaris Lodge or similar, overlooking the Chobe River, the gateway to the wildlife-rich landscapes of Chobe National Park. Spend the evening relaxing before enjoying dinner at the lodge.

Day 5: Kasane to Nata - Botswana

Start the day with breakfast before embarking on a boat safari along the Chobe River, one of the best ways to experience the incredible wildlife of Chobe National Park. Watch for large herds of elephants gathering at the water's edge, along with hippos, crocodiles and an abundance of birdlife as you cruise through this wildlife-rich environment.

After your river safari, travel south towards Nata, the gateway to the spectacular Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. En route, enjoy a freshly prepared lunch before continuing through Botswana's vast and ever-changing landscapes.

Arrive at Elephant Sands Lodge or similar in the late afternoon, where elephants are frequent visitors to the unfenced waterhole. Relax in this unique bush setting before enjoying dinner at the lodge.

Day 6: Nata to Maun - Botswana

Enjoy breakfast while watching elephants gather at the lodge's waterhole before departing for Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. En route, visit the remarkable Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, where vast white plains stretch to the horizon, creating one of Botswana's most striking natural landscapes.

Continue to Chanoga Village for a guided walk with a local resident, offering an authentic glimpse into rural life and the traditions of a Botswana community rarely visited by tourists.

Arrive in Maun and settle into your overnight accommodation at Drifters Maun Lodge or similar, overlooking the Boteti River. After a light lunch, the afternoon is yours to relax by the pool, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, or watch for wildlife and birdlife along the riverbank. During the summer rains, the flowing Boteti River attracts a variety of animals, making the lodge an excellent place to experience Botswana's natural beauty.

This evening, enjoy dinner at the lodge as you prepare for the unforgettable Okavango Delta adventure that awaits.

Day 7: Maun to Okavango Delta - Botswana

After breakfast, transfer to Maun Airport for your scenic charter flight into the breathtaking Okavango Delta, one of the world's largest inland deltas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fed by rivers flowing from the Angolan Highlands, this extraordinary wilderness of waterways, lagoons and islands supports an incredible diversity of wildlife and birdlife.

Your camp, Guma Lagoon Drifters Camp, is set beside a tranquil lagoon and is the perfect base for exploring this remarkable ecosystem. Discover the Delta by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe), enjoy guided nature walks on remote islands, and learn about the region's unique flora and fauna from knowledgeable local guides. A picnic lunch in the wilderness adds to the experience before returning to camp to relax on the deck overlooking the lagoon, cool off in the swimming pool, or simply soak up the peaceful surroundings.

Day 8: Okavango Delta - Botswana

As another unforgettable day in the Delta draws to a close, relax with dinner at camp and savour the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

Days 9 - 12: Okavango Delta to Khwai Concession - Botswana

This morning after breakfast, board a scenic charter flight over the Okavango Delta to the Khwai Concession, a spectacular wilderness area bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Enjoy breathtaking aerial views of meandering waterways, floodplains and forests before landing in one of Botswana's most renowned safari regions.

Transfer by open safari vehicle to Drifters Khwai Tented Camp or similar, your riverside camp and base for the next four nights. Spend your days exploring the Khwai Concession and, where conditions allow, Moremi Game Reserve. Travelling in open 4x4 safari vehicles with experienced local guides, search for elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, buffalo, giraffes, antelope and an exceptional diversity of birdlife.

Each game drive is shaped by the season, ensuring every day brings new landscapes, wildlife sightings and photographic opportunities. Between activities, return to camp to relax by the river, enjoy freshly prepared meals and soak up the tranquillity of this remote wilderness.

Depending on seasonal conditions, your guides may also explore Central Kalahari Game Reserve or Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, allowing for the best possible safari experience.

A freshly prepared lunch is enjoyed en route before continuing to this inspiring community-led conservation area.

Established to protect Botswana's endangered black and white rhinos while supporting local communities, the sanctuary has become one of the country's leading conservation success stories. On arrival, head out on an open-vehicle game drive in search of rhinos, as well as zebra, giraffe, antelope and a variety of birdlife.

This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your guides and fellow travellers as you celebrate the remarkable experiences and unforgettable wildlife encounters of your Botswana adventure.

Continue through the bushveld and the scenic Waterberg region before arriving in the vibrant city of Johannesburg in the late afternoon, where your 15 Day Victoria Falls, Botswana and South Africa Overland Safari ends.

If time allows, consider extending your stay to explore Johannesburg or continue your journey with a visit to Kruger National Park or Cape Town.

We don’t recommend this tour to children under 12 due to the boat-based activities, free-roaming wildlife in most areas, and the Rhino tracking on foot activity. 

Children 12 years and younger are not allowed on mokoro rides in Botswana.
