Chris African Travel Fanatic

I was born in Stellenbosch - the wine capital of South Africa - but grew up in Pretoria in Gauteng Province. Travel was always in my blood from a very young age. As a family, we travelled quite extensively through South Africa, and also made several trips to France to see family.

After school, while studying Tourism, I got an opportunity to become a tour guide for a French Travel Operator, and this was the beginning of an 8 year long guiding session in my life. I mainly guided in South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana and Zimbabwe. I

learned a lot about the African Wildlife while working as a field guide for a Safari outfit in the Kruger National Park, doing nature walks and game drives in the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier park. Here I experienced a lot of close encounters with the wildlife, and realised my love for nature! Later on I travelled in my own capacity to East Africa, fulfilling a lifelong dream to witness the migration in the Serengeti.

I have learned so much on the road, met hundreds of people and experienced many things, from breathless sunsets to witnessing ruthless hunting scenes in national parks. I am the type of person that would be happy with a basic tent on a patch of land with amazing settings - I dont need luxury to be happy (but I don't mind if it is there).
