On an Overland Tour in Kenya, returning to the camp where we were staying after exploring the Masai Mara, we came across two male lions stalking some Maasai cattle. The next moment, they charged and pulled down a cow right in front of the Overland Truck. Not even 2 minutes went by, and out of the bush comes a barefoot Maasai boy, who could not be more than 12 years old, chasing the lions away. When the lions saw the boy, they did not hesitate and started running for their lives. The cow stood up almost unharmed and joined the rest of the herd. It was a real "pinch me, am I awake?" moment.
Seeing that young boy running full speed towards 2 fully grown male lions, with no fear, made me realize there is so much more to see and experience through travel.

Favorite Proverb: "Wisdom is like fire. People take it from others." - Reminds you that learning from others is crucial. You always learn from others, and others learn from you!
The Great Migration river crossings - most crossings happen in shallow water or even on dry land, unlike the dramatic documentaries.
The variety of tour and safari options, combined with the wealth of experience, makes ABS a great choice.
Dream Dinner Guest: A scaly anteater or pangolin - I find them fascinating and have only ever seen one in the wild.
"[Chris] was somehow able to postpone our Aquila overnight booking successfully & in fact managed to arrange a complimentary accommodation upgrade! We were so grateful as many other travellers who booked elsewhere were unable to visit Aquila. We loved the Aquila safaris, meals & accommodation, & saw so many animals up close, including 4 of the Big 5. Well done Chris! We hope to be back!" - [Laurie, 11 July 2025]
"Chris Du Prez is a Star!!: Chris Du Prez, my trusted travel advisor, exceeded my expectations once again. He not only arranged a fantastic and truly memorable trip to Botswana this time, he also went out of his way to ensure that I got my visas in a timely manner by giving me invaluable advice on how to go about it. He truly is an asset to the African Budget Safaris team. He is already working on my next trip to Namibia which I am sure will be as exhilarating as the last 2 trips that he has arranged for me." - [Bimal Bodaji, 09 July 2025]
"Thanks for your help Chris. Our holiday was certainly better for it...." - [James Tayler, 28 March 2025]
"Prompt, Informative and Sincere Response: I have booked a number of safaris through "African Budget Safaris" (ABS). I have mostly worked with Chris for my safari booking. In February 2024, I did the "Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Safari in Uganda". The trip was fantastic and Chris did a wonderful job in getting the booking done for me in time and providing all the relevant information and documents. I would recommend ABS to anyone for their Safari tour arrangement in Africa." - [S Mallick, 11 July 2024]
