Getting to Maputo by plane, international flights access the city via the Maputo International Airport (MPM), also called Lourenço Marques Airport or Mavalane International Airport. From the airport you can take a taxi into the city. Maputo can also be reached by train, with a daily service connecting from Komatipoort in South Africa.
You can drive to Maputo from South Africa, travelling on well-maintained highways from Johannesburg or Durban (600km), as well as Manzini in Swaziland. There are afforable bus services running from Johannesburg to Maputo - a good budget option.
Getting around in Maputo is easy, with a choice of "tuk-tuks", which are also popular for sightseeing in the city, and cheap mini-bus taxis (called Chapa). There is also a ferry that takes visitors out on day trips to Inhaca.

Both LAM Mozambique Airlines and Kaya Airlines operate at Maputo International Airport, offering flights connecting Maputo with major airports in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Angola and others. In addition to the domestic and intra-continental African flights, some international flights are also available, to and from Lisbon in Portugal and Doha in Qatar.
